Snog, marry, avoid?

This is on channel 11 on Friday nights. Any ones else been watching this lately? They take girls and instead of having a makeover give them a make-under e.g remove ott makeup, hair extensions etc. Some interesting make unders, many look great afterwards, the girls have such amazing personalities and are so brave to go on this show.

Haha this show is soo silly and I can’t stop myself from watching! Does anyone remember the older couple that had a major major tanning problem?

Wow, i’ve been sick and just come back to see so many of us that are watching this, lol. I agree its kind of wacky, tacky etc but secretly enjoy watching it 🙂 I think some of the makeunders look amazing and its sad when they go back to their original looks but at the end f the day if thats how these girls (and guys) feel comfortable then thats their choice and how they express themselves. I do agree Hooha that confidence and self esteeem are issues in this show. Definitely some scary makeup tips from the public and the host, not always spot on (thanks to bh we can see what really works and doesn’t!)

I too don’t know whether I love or hate this show. I think it is sad when the girls make comments after their make under as lots of them have very poor self esteem. I do think that most of them look better a bit more natural but then again, if all that makeup makes them happy there is no harm in it either.

Just a comment on the hairspray for fixing your makeup, be aware that it makes your face flammable. People have been injured when a flame such as a cigarette lighter or flaming drink has set the hairspray on fire. Better to use a makeup fixing spray really!

I don’t know whether I love or hate this show. It’s so entertaining but I don’t agree with the conservativeness that they try to push onto everyone. Especially when the people on it are just expressing themselves through their glamour/goth/punk/cyber style. It seems to have a slight slut-shaming perspective.

This show is so totally scripted! The other night they were doing 2 girls at once, and as one girl was speaking, you could see the other one mouthing the same words without realising, obviously reading off the teleprompter. Still kind of fun though!

bq. They do actually use this in Beauty Contests Inga, as it helps the makeup stay and not slide from the bright stage lights. I know it does sound a little dodgy, however it does actually work believe it or not. :S

Seriously?? Occasionally I might miss my hair with the hairspray and get my face, and it always feels horribly stiff and unpleasant. I can’t imagine anyone doing this intentionally.. especially round the eyes 😐

Yes seriously Inga. You close your eye’s and hold the can a little distance away and spray in an X. Or get someone to do it for you. It is big in the US. If you have seen that show on Beauty Pageants with the kids and mums in the US you will see them doing this before they go on stage.

Some of the tips from the public are pretty dodgy.. like spraying hairspray onto your face so your make up stays in place?? Yuck!

Yeah it works wonders, I’ve had to use it so some of my models faces didn’t slide off halfway up the catwalk, but it is pretty gross, definitely wouldn’t recommend it for day to day wear!
