RIP – JON ENGLISH

I am devastated at just hearing the news that Jon English has died at age 66 from surgery complications. He truly was a lovely man and it was only the other day he was on a TV program talking about his life.

Years ago when his kids were little, my kids played with his (not knowing at the time who they belonged to). It wasn’t until Jon came out and I was like, whoa. He actually joked that you never know they could meet up later in life and laughed. We often saw him around as we lived in the same area.

Such a sad loss at seeing him go. Sympathies to all his family,

RIP John

I have a good memories of the show “All together now” and he was in it. I was fresh in Australia, with big language difficulties and this show was making me laugh and relax.
    Thank you Jon!

What sad news, he was incredibly in Jesus Christ Superstar. 2016 was truly devastating for our celebrity world.

2016 was a year of many great losses. Jon English was way too young to die. So sad.

Lovely to read how people recall Jon English. I loved him in Against The Wind TV series with his on-screen wife, Mary and the Six Ribbons song .

I’d also seen him in The Pirates of Penzance shortly after moving to Sydney (almost 30 years ago) and was so impressed with his acting (and ad-lib humour!) and I loved to watch live productions after that experience.

First and foremost he was a singer and I don’t think I’ll ever get that image out of my mind of him on countdown wearing a bright yellow all in one jumpsuit with fringing – looking like a giant canary – I can’t even recall the song !

He always came across as a gentle giant with a lovely smile and cute dimples.

And yes, not very old at 66 and didn’t appear to lead a hard rockers life – even tho he looked it!

Oh no…. we seem to be losing so many talented people lately….its like there is a huge party going on in heaven and they wanted the best.

I saw Jon in concert many. many years ago. I was so upset as they sold out of tickets before my girlfriend and I could buy any but then they released some extras so we grabbed a couple of tickets and we thought we would probably have really bad seats as they were a last minute release but we near died of joy when we found that we were seated in seats they assembled on the back of the stage…..we had the best seats and the show was amazing.
