    Hello Ladies,
This thread seems to be getting a little out of control. Everyone is entitled to their own views but when the tone becomes unpleasant (as I feel this conversation has) it is bh`s decision to put a stop to it. Therefore, this post is now locked.
    Thanks

Over the last couple of days I have found myself completely bewildered in regards how big a deal one skit has become.

Having watched the show and seen said sketch. I am saddened by the outpouring of hate Australia has received from other countries. I can see how this sketch in America could be seen as offensive but to tar a whole country over it??

Yes some Australians are rascist. Rascism is not a problem that is isolated in Australian it can still be found all over the world and will always remain in the world until we learn how to love each and every individual/group as they are.

Additionally has anyone in the media covering this story looked at the fact that it was a multicultural group performing this skit from a variety of ethnic-australian background.

In this whole sorry saga it is the doctors I feel sorry for. Clearly they were asked to come back and reprise a skit they did more than 20years ago for a bit of fun and to help a charity. Instead they have been condemned by the media and the rest of the world as being rascists?

One of the things I love most about being Australian is that we do have such diversity in our culture. People from all around the world live in one country and for the majority of the time we have no problems amongst different groups.

Sadly this year has not been a good year as far as this goes but everyday Australians are all working together to create a brighter future.

Personally I didn`t find it funny but neither do I think the guys had malicious intent and I love the irony of the situation, the doctors performing the skit were all of Middle Eastern/Asian descent, not some red-necked, white hicks (which too would be a stereotype).

As it has been pointed out we are in Australia and have a very different social history to that of the United States so their actions would have come from a very different perspective. We also have a very different sense of humour and I actually find that a lot of American humour is more directly offensive while Aussies tend to be very ironic and tongue-in-cheek with our humour. We generally only send up the people we actually like and respect.

It has also been pointed out on news programs that Ted Danson, who was at the time the boyfriend of Whoopie Goldberg who is one of the people whinging, attended a major public event in blackface with Whoopie`s encouragment. Can anyone say hypocrite? I also find that the comedians who seem to enjoy offending black Americans are black Americans, Chris Rock anyone? He can`t seem to say a joke without using the word n**ger, is it OK then since he`s black himself???

Obviously this topic can go round and round and round, especially with people commenting from completely different angles, so let`s just agree to disagree and stop being offensive and condescending and get back to all of the great beauty stuff.

BH is meant to be fun so let`s have fun.

Of course you weren`t offended, once again this isn`t about you, I`m sorry but the world does not revolve around YOU. What do you mean by `we`, you do realise not everyone shares your opinion. I thought it was culturally insensitive and offensive to black people, you probably found it amusing. I did not. Typing on a keyboard doesn`t constitute hearing my own voice, so that doesn`t make any sense. What`s with the bangs, you trying to shoot a gun or something? You just don`t like hearing people with an opposite opinion because it challenges your own, so instead of refuting my statements you resort to personal insults that are entirely irrelevant and deflect from the issue, which was why it was offensive to some black people (once again, of course it wasn`t offensive to you)..very classy lol, you know what they say, the truth does hurt and I can definitely see that in some peoples responses. Very eye-opening.

    i figured it out.
you like the sound of your own voice.
    bang, bang, bang, bang, bang.
keep banging, we still weren`t offended. it doesn`t mean we don`t care about others feelings, we just weren`t offended.
    the end.

Yes, racism is still alive and kicking in Australia, albeit a more subtle, institutionalized racism where people hide their prejudices because obviously people don`t want to be identified as a racist and the negative connotations that go with it, but I`d say Australia has improved greatly from the past, still quite some way to go though. Hmm, I don`t think it makes you racist, since their is no malicious intent..but I don`t like the stereotype because their are plenty of white singers that are great too.
