Does anyone have any recommendations for natural deodorant? I’ve tried a few, none of which I’ve found very effective. Thanks :-)
I use natural deodorent in the winter but it I have a fairly strong body odour and just can't get away with using it in summer. I use Sukin, Its a spray and I love that it has essential oils to scent it, I've also tried Black Chicken Remedies which is a paste and it's quite effective too.
I don't know if people can smell my body odour, but when I can it's time to break out a 'unnatural' deodorent.
I quite enjoy the Sukin one, it's nice and citrusy and does work quite well.
I just have a little more body odour than the average person (it's genetic, it runs in my family) so I have to wash a couple of times throughout the day when I only use natural deodorant.
I love the A'kin cedarwood and geranium deodorant you can find it at Priceline, the scent is incredible and has some serious staying power for a deodorant.
I was going to recommend that one as well! It's amazing
I was going to mention A'kin Geranium & Cedarwood Natural Deodorant but then I removed it from my list. This is because I've read a few reviews where people had some reactions to it. I like the deodorant, but when I developed some rashes on my skin (from health issues), I wasn't able to use it.
Amazeballs and Miss19 you both beat me to it! The A'kin deoderant is my fave as well!
Jessie Newton, finding a natural-based deodorant that works for you often involves trial and error. If you expect a natural-based deodorant to stop sweating, they're not designed for this purpose because perspiration is a natural bodily function. For the most part, they're designed to minimise odour. You probably can't expect one application of a natural-based deodorant to last all day. If I'm in close proximity to people, I apply a deodorant more often during the day.
There are threads for natural-based deodorants which I've listed below. I like Sukin Natural Deodorant because its aromatherapy scent is a bit stronger than with other deodorants, and so far, it has not caused irritation.
If you have sensitive armpits, you might need to avoid deodorants that contain bicarbonate of soda because some people build up some irritation to this ingredient.
You will find lots of natural-based deodorants from eco-friendly or "green" beauty online stores. I recommend Nourished Life because they have a large range of products, customer reviews, great customer service and sometimes you can buy samples:
I liked the deodorants by LaVanila but I had to stop using them due to the way they're packaged. I have lots of pain, and I had difficulty rubbing the deodorant onto my armpits (I need a spray-on product).
I found the a’kin scent too strong for a deodorant. And I wouldn’t trust it on myself in warmer weather.
I only use no Bicarb Soda as my skin is sensitive and lucky I don’t sweat much so most are suitable . Currently using Mellow Woohoo bought from Nourished Life but I think No Pong is the best . Also Sukin and A’Kin are great too as mentioned .
I'm loving MY AURA... It has a gentle smell or you can get unscented and it lasts all day!!!
I'm hear you Jessie Newton. I've tried a few with no success.
I've been use Black Chicken's Axilla Deodorant Paste Original for many years and still find it unbeatable.
Tried many natural deodorants prior (even made my own!) and still open to using occasional other natural deodorants.
I've found the Eco Sonya Coconut Deodorant roll on and the A'kin Geranium & Cedarwood pump spray deodorant quite good (and handy if I want to use a roll on or a spray rather than a cream paste that you apply with your fingers) but no where near as effective as the deodorant paste - it lasts all day without needing to reapply.
They recently introduced a Barrier Boost edition - this has all the strength of the Original, but formulated for sensitive skin. I've never had issues, but heard on the forums of others that have - causes a red rash! Bicarb seems to be the culprit and the Barrier Boost is Bicarb free.
Is there a deodorant that actually STOPS sweating?
I’m using Mitchum and I’m impressed. I was a heavy underarm sweater in my youth but used dri-clor to get it under control. It’s not a deodorant. Not sure how it works but it does. I would apply every night before going to bed. It would itch like crazy.
I’m not sure how long I used it for six months, a year or two who knows??
I still sweat but not embarrassing wet patches!
Which one do you use? I used to find it worked really well also the shower fresh was my fave but recently I've been getting sweat patches even with that and I never used to! Also tried the clinical gel and same thing and I don't even sweat much either.
I find though by the evening it is quite "dry" and I need to scrub my armpits to actually get it off! I heard somewhere to apply it at night for best results but I feel yuck doing that I like to let my body recover and breath during the night!
I’m using the Mitchum clinical gel in cool fresh.
I’ve found that after awhile using a particular deodorant it’s just not effective anymore and I have to switch to a different brand. It’s like my body has gotten used to it.
A antiperspirant is supposed to stop sweating and a deodorent just makes it smell nicer.
When I lived in QLD the only one that really worked for me was Mitchum .
WooHoo deodorant is definitely worth it if body odor is a problem. I use the lime scented one and got away with wearing a work shirt for three days straight during hot days.
They are formulating a bicarb free one too.
Thanks so much everyone for all of that info
I use a mitchum unscented roll on which I find very effective.
