Looking for general advice on self-tanning!

Hello beauties 🙂

I was thinking maybe some of you have a wide range of experience with self-tanning/at home fake tanning and you can share some of your insights and experience with this newbie over here!

I’m kind of curious whether tanning is for me at all or not… I’m not someone with a fantastic eye for detail (for instance, I am HOPELESS at matching my foundation, so I just don’t wear foundation) or beauty precision (forget dyeing my own hair, I need an adult for that).

I’m looking for a reallllllly beginner-friendly self-tanner that is VERY subtle (so that if I mismatch a little, or miss a small spot here or there, I don’t have to feel HORRIBLE) but I’m not sure if that even exists… I know a lot of that is possibly just finding a tone that works for me (yikes) but it would also help if it was just kind of a subtle/low-payoff product by nature (so possibly not something an avid self-tanner would love?).

Does anyone have any advice? Any particular brands/lines that would be subtle enough for me to play around with? Or do you think if I am already hopeless with foundation matching, it may just not be worth the bother/risk and just save up to get a spray tan professionally at some point?

Any input would be much appreciated 🙂 thank you!!

I usually look for free programs. There’s a Chloe Ting on YouTube, she has a lot of free programs that are very cool, by the way. I went through 2 weeks of this kind of challenge, it was hard, but the results are amazing.

I agree with Eskimo82. My preferred brand is Dove because it moisturises my skin at the same time,

Maybe try a gradual tanner? As the name suggests, you can build up to the shade you want and they are a lot easier to apply than actual fake tan (i.e. you just apply them like normal moisturiser). Jergens Natural Glow is really good.
