How do you take care for your bras.

I read this article earlier today on Beauty Heaven, titled “When men find out what it’s like to wear a bra” (Link below) and I was wondering how you beauties care for bras so they can last longer and stay wrinkle free.

I can’t to hear your tips and tricks.

I put my bras in a hosiery bag and hang them by the end. If it’s my lingerie though I will try and hand wash it if I have the time.

I put them in a lingerie bag in the washing machine and line dry them, I used to handwash them but can’t be bothered handwashing anymore.

I hand wash in the shower. I hang them over the shower curtain rail and gently squeeze the excess water from the cup (moulded cup with underwire are my almost always worn bra) and straps. I don’t wear them on consecutive days anymore.

I use to just throw them in the wash but I was losing wires left, right & centre. Now they go in a hosiery bag.

mine go in a lingerie bag and only 2 at a time. I also store laying flat in a draw, stacked on top of each other to keep their shape. Even after 35 years wearing a bra I still haven’t learnt to buy multiples of a bra I find comfortable. I buy one, love it and when it wears out, go to find it again and generally can’t seem to locate it and have to do the whole bra fitting saga again!!

I’d recommend getting professionally fitted at a bra shop or Myer and David Jones.
I did about 5 years ago and it changed my life. Now I go once every 2 Years mainly because my weight goes up and down
It’s not that embarrassing either xxx

+1 to that. I used to hate bra shopping, but I got a fitting about 3 1/2 years ago by chance whilst trying on bras in Myer & haven’t looked back….and to think I was wearing bras that were 1 cup size too small for my boobs! I ended up pestering my Mum to go & have a fitting & she did…she was wearing bras that were 2 cup sizes smaller. Can’t recommend enough that everyone get a fitting!

Also re: this topic, I always hand wash mine, unless the label specifies otherwise & even then it gets thrown into a laundry bag & done on a delicate wash. Mine aren’t real fancy (I had 1 nice bra/underwear set, but I bought the wrong size in the undies & they’ve since been discontinued), but I still want to take care of them.

I just throw mine in the washing machine and the dryer. Admittedly, they are not delicate lacy numbers, but I don’t find it does them any harm. Agree with jatz’s recommendation of Barely There by Berlei, that’s my favourite too, so comfortable you don’t notice you’re wearing them. Myer seem to have them on sale on a regular enough basis that I’ve never paid full price for them.

Nothing. I don’t do anything special when washing my bras. I’ve always wanted to buy those bra bags but i know I’d be to lazy to actually use it. But my bras are fine in the machine.

Cheap ones eg. sporty, t-shirt, around the house bras get throw in the wash with everything else.

Good ones – I never put mine in a clothes dryer as I believe it damages delicate fabrics (goes for clothes too), and I always put them in a lingerie bag I bought from Bras n Things. Then into the washing machine, always using a gentle & cold water setting.

If it’s something very expensive or delicate lace, then I’ll hand wash only!

I can’t believe so many of you hand wash your bras! The only thing I hand wash is my hands. My bras have three rows of hooks, four hooks to a row, so I do them all up & throw them in the washing machine. I keep the lingerie bags for my lacy-racy-date-knickers, which would get torn to shreds by the bra hooks if I didn’t.

I hit Target every few times they have an underwear sale & buy one or two bras. That way, they don’t all die at the same time. I’ve always got a selection of:
    • killer date bras (they make my tits look great but hurt so bad I can’t wait to rip ’em off for some err ahem “date action”); &
    • industrial strength soft cup granny bras which are comfortable but ugly as hell.
I hang them all up on the balcony like wind socks by the hook end. The lacy-racy-date-knickers don’t have enough fabric to hold much water, they get hung up in the bathroom.
