Best Exercise For Legs?

What’s the best kind of exercise I can do to lose weight on my legs?
I’m built small and I’m slim, but even when I was really skinny, my legs weren’t, though I used to do lots and lots of walking and power walking. (But virtually no other exercise.)

My legs are very short, and I also don’t have the best shape – I have no ankles (My legs don’t go inwards or become narrower there, so my legs appear thicker than they really are), and I go “out” at the knees (they’re sort of wide as though they’re a bit swollen or something), and I also have kind of wide, flat (not arched) feet… So these factors do make my legs appear wider than they really are, which is annoying, as the rest of my body is quite similar to a ballerina’s. However, I do carry more (actual) weight on my legs than I should.

I have a healthy diet and drink plenty of water. Can anybody suggest the best kind of exercise I could do to eliminate extra weight on my legs? What’s really effective for a little tone and quite a bit of weight loss in that area? It might sound like common sense to others, but I’ve got no idea!! Has anything in particular worked well for others with a similar issue?

    Squats, lunges, leg press.

I have the same issue and I used to do a lot of leg-focused weights and cardio which made them more bulky – I ended up getting super toned but quite muscly legs which looked strange since I am so short and petite elsewhere. I used to do quite heavy weights combined with a lot of interval running and cycling which wasn’t getting my the shape I was wanting (like I couldn’t get a lot of jeans over my calves/thighs). I then tried Kayla Itsines’ BBG workouts combined with running, pilates and yoga and found that really helped to reduce the bulk without losing tone. This is what has ended up working for me, but it was a lot of trial and error.

Weights, join a gym. Leg press, squats, Russian Split Squat, goblet squat.

Can you swim? It’s a full body workout but more fun than traditional gym exercise. Also good for mental well-being.

Do you have access to an exercise bike? They are’nt really that expensive to buy, nowhere near the cost of a treadmill, I got one for about $100, my hubby had to assemble it. It’s great for legs and cardio, You can increase the resistance on it, but that might bulk up legs. It’s easy to use but maybe you might like to grab a ‘real’ bike and hit the road.

    Jump squats work wonders!!

I think HIIT would be good? It’s hard to spot areas you need to balance the whole body to have a decent effect.

I know they say you can’t spot reduce.. But I really think you can! Whatever you exercise .. Particularly with strength training and resistance work.. When combined with cardio… You will notice improvements in your targeted areas.. Of course you should be really targeting each muscle group.
