Toilet Training Little Men!

Ok girls – I need tried and true tips on the easiest way to toilet train the little man of the house! He is two and a half and is ready. We have done wee’s on the toilet about twice (and a few number two’s a little while ago) but I can only get him to do them sitting down – whats the best way to get them to stand (or should I not bother – as his dad sits…hehe if he knew I was writing this…) I have a special wee target for him to aim at – but it’s actually getting him to face the toilet…and how do I teach him to hold it and aim? His dad works away a lot – so it’ll be me teaching him.

It will float because its made of plastic and has air in the centre.

i think i`ll try to teach my little man to sit to begin with, less spillage and less pressure to aim in the right direction and all that, hahah, he`s a little way off yet though.

  • I can`t share any advice for you GG however it`s an exciting yet challenging milestone for your little man. It sounds as though he is doing really well with his training. I think a lot of praise does wonders to keep up his efforts. Good luck 🙂

Thanks for all the advice girls, my boy is now master of the loo and it only took less then a week for him to work it all out – it was almost instant. I just said righto – no more nappies, and that was it. He has probably had about 4 accidents. I couldn`t believe how easy he was….my daughter took longer.

My little man was taught sitting down but saw his father recently stand up and just copied him now he refuses to sit down. Its alot easier at first to just concentrate on the toilet training then he will stand when he is ready i wouldnt worry too much. Its bad enough cleaning up little accidents alone you dont want to be mopping the toilet floor everytime he shoots aims and misses. Good luck with it. He will be trained in no time

my mum has told me the best way as i dont have a boy yet but i used it on my nephews and it worked … u put a ping pong ball in the toilet and ask them to shoot it and try and sink it (it wont flush down as it is so floatacious) or take them outside and get them to wee on a tree

    Congrats with the toilet training.
I just left my boy sitting in our house it`s wasn`t a major big problem. When he went to kindy in nz, and he was round 4 he saw all the boys stand so he started standing. Then when he kept missing the toilet I asked him if he was holding on to it and we also place a ping pong ball in the toilet and asked him to aim it to that. But also i found good when he got really busy and focus on toys and not even go to the toilet we used a sticker chart and put it at his level everytime he got praised for going to the toilet he got a sticker sometimes the rest of the family a sticker/stamp 2 then we changed the rules once he suss that out it was dry pants all day and he had a pokemon sticker album and he got a sticker it did work and i know boys can be harder than girls. I think he will figure it out when he get`s older just get over the toilet training first.

Maybe thats the problem GiGi your partners sitting –
When I was separted from my sons father, my son (2 1/2 @the time) only copied me because I was sitting down too.
Then along came my current partner and he showed him once & that was enough, hes never looked back.
AND then theres the ping pong trick – use red or any colour for that matter – throw them in the toilet and make a game out of it
to try and hit the BULLSEYE..he..he
