oh ok i have never heard of this before! not sure about alternative products i had no idea there were dangers with talc.
yeah it was in the paper yesterday and l've done a few search's on the net. Just wanted to get some feedback.
Someone mentioned the use of cornflour in the previous posts. If you go to the top right hand corner there's "search in posts" section where you can search & find previous thread. :)
love your pic of paris - what a great city!
unreal thanks music - I'm new to this whole forum chat stuff - thanks a heap
You're welcome! :) Hope you enjoy it. Search under "cornflour" or "baby powder" might give you the best options.
Talc has been found to be linked with ovarian cancer, lung cancer, lung irritation, pneumonia and is a known carcinogen. Sanctum and Miessence both do baby powders which are free from Talc. Cornflour is also another alternative.
aww thanks starlet1! i love it too lol
talc is evil in a bottle. so bad for you. . a good simple alternative is cornflour. you can sift it to make it a little finer and you can even add a couple of drops of lavender essential oil
oh this is sad, ive always used talk what with putting on swimming caps and all! hehe oh well no more no more
I am so old fashioned and all the things that have been around for years like baby oil and baby powder are all of a sudden dangerous, this sux. My boy loves his sprinkling of powder after his bath at night I don't know how I will be able to convince him he can't have it anymore!!!!
oh no melmeko! just trick him and use a safe alternative lol. i really had no idea talc cld be dangerous, linked to cancer!? thats seriously od. and unfortunated.
Sure of it but cornflour doesn't have that famous smell, I love the smell of baby powder, this is totally sad.
I never used baby powder on my daughter as it never appealed to me and I favoured an ointment to use as a nappy barrier to prevent nappy rash rather than a powder. I do use baby powder on myself when waxing. I find it absorbs moisture and oils and gives a better wax. Considering I've been using mineral makeup for sometime I should look into talc free alternatives for waxing.
Melmeko I agree with you on the old fashioned approach. I love the smell of baby powder too. I guess these days we are more cautious and more aware of the dangers of certain ingredients. Most of our parents would of used baby powder, petroleum jelly and baby oil on us as little bubs.
When I had my little boy three years ago we weren't allowed to take Talc (baby) powder into the hospital.
Yeah I am just behind with the times guys, LOL. I never used powder on my boy until he was over the age of one. As a small baby and with my 4 month old I only ever used baby lotions all over them after each bath, never had any problems with nappy rash until just recently with my son.
Hi, Ive just become an Aunty & thought i'd check up on this topic. i had heard of this several years ago & wanted to see what everyone else was using. I was at a Le Reve party (like a tuppaware party only for perfume), & they have a dusting powder which is made form silk particles & is talc free, they said you could get it unscent to use on babies. Ive got a fragranced one which i love on myself. Am going to get the fragrance free for my neice. Thought i should share this with everyone.
wow i never new that about talc powder
If you are looking for another alternative Belli, which is on BH do a powder minus the talc

yes talcum is a no no.none of my friends or family members use it.only our mother and aunts and grandmothers..becuase they have used it all their lives and find it hard to give up.the powders now adays are not as bad as what they use to make but still for little ones it is not a good idea at all.there are lots of articles on the internet on this.even baby books. it causes too many complications and health risks for the babies thats not really worth it.is it? i don't think there is anything else you can use instead of talcum powder.but i am sure you will be able to find something different.there are so many good organic products just for babies put there.
Guys ... Talc is toxic and dangerous .. and unfortunately it isn't just in your baby powders they fill it up in your mineral powders that you put on your face too ... YUK! There are a couple of brands out their that offer talc alternatives, of course my favourite is Arbonne ... the Nappy Rash cream I use instead of talc for baby's bum and a Baby Oil for the body. For my face I use their Mineral Powder which has anti-ageing properties too.
Hi Nomorewrinkles1 - I don't want to be a pain in the a*$% but not all mineral powders contain talc it is usually the cheaper supermarket and department stores eg Kmart that stock brands with talc powder. Nearly all pressed powder shadows contain talc as well.
Isnt the whole 'mineral' thing supposed to be that they dont have talc???
crazy isn't it, are there other baby powders that don't contain talk???
