Grate them up and put them in everything you make, also my kids like mashed potato so I mash heaps of other veges in with it.
How old is ur little girl Mishka?
I am lucky my baby who will be 1 in a few weeks willl eat just about anything, though will go into a frenzy over fruit!
Like Mel saiid grate or puree them and add them into things so she wont know. Like if u do lasagne, mix pumpkin, grated zuchinni/carrot etc into the sauce.
my girl is 3. see another problem is that she has a thing about bright colours. if she see's anything coloured other than her fruit she will not touch it.... its funny cos she kinda sniffs it then says YUCK! then again she goes thru phases one night she might eat it and other nights she may not. its just sooooo frustrating.
but i have never tried the grating thing i will deffinantly give it a go. thanks :)
Good luck darl, some kids just will not eat them, my son is going to be 2 in a couple of weeks and he is like your daughter good some days and terrible the next, he throws his food all over the floor some nights it just drives me crazy. My daughter on the other hand who will be one in a few more weeks is fantastic she will eat anything and everything I put in front of her even that tinned crap, and my fussy son would never touch that since he was born. They are all different, just as long as they are eating something decent like mabey cheese or yougart I wouldn't worry so much as they will grow out of it with a bit of luck. Keep in touch darl xxx
I think as long as she eats her fruit it will be ok Mishka, just keep putting them in front of her and eventually she will eat some. Toddlers go through phases. I grew up on raw carrots and cooked beans and potatoes, and now I love veges so she will probably grow out of it. :-)
My mother told me I wouldn't eat anything bar vegemite sandwhiches for the first few years of my life, lol, and as a young child I remember sticking my nose up at anything except potatoes. Now I totally love veges and eat everything, even crave for them, lol.
lol mel thats funny .
as a kid i once ate a whole pot of peas , needless to say .. i think i loved peas as a kid .. where as not ..i cant eat vegies by the plateful !!
I am the same, When I was little I hated vegies, now I love them and they go great with any meal!! I thinks its just part of growing up not liking vegies
I agree for some of us anyway, lol.
i think its just expected kids hate vegies , for now my son will eat anything ... and i hope it stays that way .. i dont plan on making a big deal outta eating them ..or forcing them to eat them .
Dont stress too much miska boo. My son went completly off his food for 2wks and the hospital told me not to worry that food wasnt really that important as long as he was drinkin fluids!!!
He was soo god wen he was younger, he would eat anything!! Now hes gettin a bit picky but its nothing inparticular he doesnt like he just goes through phases of wat he does and doesnt want to eat.
Try to make them interesting for her, cut them into shapes offer different colours together, try to make them look appealing.
And ya like i sed try not to stress...she will pick up on this and get stressed to then ye'll be all up in a heap and no1 will wana eat!!
thanks for the support, you are all beautiful. :)
i am trying not too stress, i am thankful that she loves her fruit tho so that is a plus.
I totally agree, that overall there is no need to be stressed about kids not eating enough veggies, as long as they eat something raw with vitamins, whether it is a piece of fruit or a vegetable. I do admit that i am luckier as both my girls (1 y,o & 3 y.o) are quite good and have a variety of green/coloured food. but they do not eat fish! I started giving them some Blackmores fish oil for kids (Fuity fshes), just for my peace of mind :) But if you are worried about it too much, you can always ask yor nurse or doctor, or give your little one some kids multi-vitamins (i think Blackmore have multi-vitamins for kids a well).
i make salmon patties for my little boy and he loves them. just mash a stack of vegies (lots of mashed potato) and add the salmon (well drained), mix through, form rissoles and seal in plain flour, then lightly fry for a min or 2 until browned. He loves his with a little tomato sauce.
i lucky with the fish callum loves it especially tuna with sundried tomato and basil...but then anything with cheese or tomato he will devour lol
thanks for great ideas re fish. Salmon patties sound yummy, just not sure if i have any energy left to cook them... will have to try on the w/e, when there is more kids-free time
I hear you on the energy front Milla running around after little ones takes it out of you, lol, and the last thing you feel like is heading into the kitchen, he he.
you are right on the money, Melmeko - i only feel like heading to bed... and it always happens too late (just to find out that it's time to get up again :)
I understand I have 2 under 2, lol.
mels our wonder mom lol
I wish, it is a battle here at the best of times, lol.
yet i never hear u complain about it!! I reckon the ones who have it easiest are the ones who complain the most lol
salmon patties!!! YUMMO!!! will have to try them.
My two oldest won't eat fish but those patties sound like maybe I could win them over by being a little sneaky and making the fish not look so fishy!!
With veges I don't have a problem at all. For instance, when our family goes to another family's party and there is a vege plate there, my girls head straight for that and pig out!!!
I use a stack of veges at home and my girls especially love the cauliflower in a cheese sauce and broccoli in a cheese sauce. They adore these dishes and they always ask for seconds! (I have to always buy a huge head of broccoli and cauliflower otherwise there is never enough!) Hopefully that could help?
my sons the same softness with the brocolli cauliflower and cheese but then he'll eat anythin i asdd cheese to lol
