Im a new Aunt – Help!

thanks everyone – this is good info so i know a little of what to expect, what not to expect, & what to buy. Bubs is now 10″”3` & nearly 3wks old. Now i can put my new found knowledge to good shopping use. Yeah i cant wait to meet her for real – & squeeze her gorgeous chubby little legs haha! 🙂

how exciting! I would say size 00 or 0 they grow really quick so its better to get a bigger size coz they`ll grow into pretty soon. At that age the baby will be sleeping most the time, if your sis has a comfy pram that lays flat im sure baby will be quite alright with sleeping while yous go places, as long as your not getting the baby in and out of a car all the time coz that can irritate them and disrupt there sleep patterns, somewhere like a shopping centre would be good coz you wouldnt need to disturb her much.

Congratulations, I bet you can`t wait to meet the new addition. I wouldn`t reccomend any full on days out though, bubs are up and down all day at that age and rarely sleep for much more than about an hour at a time, then the are up for a play and afeed. The only way you are going to get mum for a pamper session is to have someone to look after bub. Hard to suggest clothes as they go through them so quickly, best not to get too much because they may not even get the chance to wear half of them. Some more practical gifts such as bath washes, lotions and wipes never go to waste

I`d always go for bigger sizes in clothing. I`m sure your sister would have loads of clothes for bub and it`s always handy to have larger sizes to fit into down the track. At 2 months I`d say the baby could be in anything from a size 000 to 0 depending on how big bubs is.

The baby would still be having frequent feeds and sleeps from this age. Every baby is different with there routines so I`m sure your sister could give you a better indication of her sleep/feed routines.

Congratulations. that`s so exciting. as for 9`10 holy cr&p, all i have to say is OUCH!

anyway, in terms of her sleep she should theoretically still be sleeping for up to 20 hours a day in 3 – 4 hour sessions depending in if she`s breast or bottle fed and if she sleeps through the night early.
if she is a `good` sleeper and will sleep in the pram then you should be able to do short trips to the shops etc. it`s really taxing on the mum too so don`t underestimate how tired your sister is. i used to take my bub out as soon as he woke, he`d have a bottle then straight in the pram to sleep, as soon as he woke again, it was off home that very instant bottle and bed…………it just depends on your sister.

be prepared to sit around the house alot, she may not want to drag a 10 week old around in the cold very often and to be honest, i wouldn`t blame her, it`s not as easy as it seems and babies need to be at home in their environment.

as for clothes, if you want to get her something for xmas time (cold) then go for 00 since she`s big (also try to find out her weight as it`s usually suggested on the labels what weight the size is for), if you want something for summer go for a 0 or 1.
