Rachelk i started my bub at 4 months with rice cereal and then at 5 with pureed potato. introduce one food at a time for 3 days then start adding another for 3 days and adding them together etc.
most babies will start to push the food out for a while, it`s mostly to teach them about a different texture and weight of food. they are so used to milk it`s a big change for them so it`s about learning for the first few months. If bubby is leaning forward with her mouth open she`s ready for it, don`t force her she`ll get it.
also, if she really refuses a food, continue to offer it, babies often don`t like change.
i always make more than what is needed so i know my baby is full when he refuses the food, not because it`s run out. good luck and have fun with bub at dinner times. if she refuses to eat one meal don`t stress, easier said than done but she`ll get the hang of it.

all great ideas! i`m still dancing around with some frozen cubed foods for my 15 month old, but mostly she`s getting into our food. she also hates the jars, it can be a real hassle but i find a banana is always handy and easy to transport! also little tiny sandwiches. i cut toast/sandwiches into shapes, mostly for my own enjoyment… ;0) sometimes you need to feel like an uber-mummy! with starting solids, you really need to wait until the baby shows an interest, i waited till baby was nearly pulling a spoon out of my hands!

Believe me when there is two of them all you want is convenience, lol. A friend of mine reccons the novalty has born off second time around. She is right in a way, coz I definately did fuss over my first one way more than the second and in no way neglecting the second either I think it is just so new the first time you want everything to be perfect.

I started feeding my daughter at six months and started with the rice cereal (Rafferty`s was my daughter`s favourite) and then introduced vegetables like mashed potato, mashed pumpkin and once she got used to the texture and the taste of plain vegetables I started mixing them together. I did prefer to cook my own meals however I also used prepared foods as well (more for the convenience when going out). Your recipe sounds yummy Beauty Bee.

My first born was always fed meals like you have suggested Beauty Bee I forever had my hand blender out and was freezing little portions. With my second, don`t the poor girl almost lives off tinned baby food, mainly due to the fact that the two of them are only 12 months apart, I just don`t have the time I use to have with only one to spend in the kitchen. If we are having someting with veges then I will blend up some for her while I am dishing out but she actually seems to like the canned food better. My eldest would not touch it, anything in a can or jar, lol. I guess it is just convenient now coz dinner time here is a mini nightmare, lol.
