Paw Paw ointment is absolutely brillinat LarissaE :)
Yep Paw paw ointment or vaseline will do the trick. They both create a barrier on the skin, my eldest use to get nappy rash all the time, and I found that when I changed my nappy brand and used good old vas it cleared up pretty quick. Hope this helps LarissaE!
I don't know if you have tried an ointment called Covitol. It worked fantastically for my son. The ingredients are : Cod Liver Oil, Zinc Oxide, Paraffin, Beewax and Lanolin. It is thick and protects the skin. Has a fishy odour due to cod liver oil. I also used to dust a powder called "Stomahesive" on top it. It is a powder used by patients with colostomies and gastrostomies to keep the skin around it dry. This was the mid wife's advice as he had a very bad nappy rash for the first few months.
I agree on the paw ointment. you can buy versions without petrochemicals as well :)
Larissa, it might help to look at the wipes you are using as well. I can only use two brands on my little boy and if I use any others he gets nappy rash. I can use the natural wipes from safeway or joey wipes from nappyland. I use sudocream for any rashes but it's not a natural product as such. Good luck. :-)
how long has it been there? as if it has been there for a while i would suggest going to your doctor lily went thru this when i was in hospital with pancretitis sometimes the natural things can take a while and if it is at a point sometimes only medicated stuff works! i would also suggest you look at the toyrus unscented wipes... they are the best i have found... and lily is VERY sensitive
Another thing that may help is airing babies bum more often during the day. Basically let them spend some time out of a nappy so the skin can breath and is not being touched by anything damp.
Thats an excellent tip too Scarlett
could he have eczema my daughter had it and using nappy creams just made it worse, took her to the doctor she was no help just recommending more creams, then finally i found a doctor who realised it was eczema and prescribed a gentle eczema cream.
Put some cornflour into a salt shaker and shaker onto butt make sure bum is dry .
yeah just let bub run arount the back yard nude they love it
