cutting babies nails

Just curious to you mums out there whether you are having the same problem as me which is struggling to cut your baby’s nails. My baby constantly fidgets and moves about and makes the job so hard. Her nails grow faster than mine!! Any tips on how to make the job a little easier? thanks

Yes I found it difficult too to cut babies nails even while asleep as they would either wake up or move or be in a weird position. So I just can`t recommend enough the Safety Nail Scissors. I still use the same pair I purchased years ago still on my ten year old and 7 year old (and of course on my 3 year old!). They are the most brilliant invention for a parent (well this parent anyhow – I hated cutting nails before I discovered these special safety scizzors).

it can be difficult to cut baby`s nails. what i do is get my DH to play with her/keep her company while i cut dd`s nails. sometimes letting her watch her fave cartoons can help distract her while i cut her nails. i can`t do it while she sleeps because she`ll wake up.

Yep, i cut when breastfeeding. The child is settled and barely notices. I`ve just started cutting during playtime, keeping him occupied with one hand toys and getting him used to it all now that he is 12mths.

when my kids were newborns I used to cut them while they were asleep (so if they fell asleep after a feed on me) As they got older I guess I just learnt to move with them I guess… they sure do grow so fast though!!

I used to have problems cutting my dd`s nails but one day i turned around and told her she could paint them after and she`s let me cut them ever since, they grow so fast so they get cut a few times a week

Yes I hated cutting my babies nails. I have three girls and I KNOW it is one of the baddest things a mum has to do. BUT!!!!!!!!!! I discovered some special scizzors that are proper Baby Safety Scizzors (I think they may be made by Manicare but I cannot be sure). They are called Safety Scissors and cannot be purchased everywhere but try a good chemist. I have never cut my baby since using these and they made nail-cutting time a breeze. They have a rounded tip and a flat edge to them that are truly a godsend for me. (I will never, ever use those baby nail clippers again in my life. One wrong snip and your…. you know….. feeling so terribly bad. I think they are only good for adult toenails personally.)
