Calling all mummies!

Hi guys 🙂

I’m currently a stay at home mum with my 18 month yr old twins. I was wondering how long or at what age before you guys went back to work either part-time or full-time? I’m thinking of getting back into the workforce. I love spending every moment with my munchkins but I know eventually I will have to begin finding something to preoccupy my days once they are off to pre-school.

Victorian parents and parents to be can you help?

Sorry for using this thread but I cannot start a new one.

The Royal Women’s Hospital are looking for people to help develop a parenting kit which will be a brilliant resource for new families.

I have written a blog post with all of the details

Would you please take the time to answer a few quick questions as I believe that this resource will be brilliant for all new families at what can be a very scary, exciting and challenging time. xx Kate

With my first I went back to work when he was 13 months. I went back part time 3 days a week. I was very hesitant about my return/daycare at first. But my son loved daycare and I loved returning to work. I am now at home with my four month old. Again – I will return to work part time when she is one. I will stay part time until they are both at school. I may go to 4 days until they are in high school. Everyone is different and you should do what suits you and your family.

Thanks Animal Lover and Sally285 🙂 Great advice! I’m definitely enjoying the time i have with my lil ones. I think though the extra cash in the household will be great, even just for savings. Not looking to get back into the workforce immediately but will be an option in the near future.

    Hi Hannah,
I think a little bit of part-time work would be great but remember parenting is a full-time job. Enjoy every moment you get with the little ones I say 🙂 You will know when the time is right to get back into the workforce, it depends on your situation as well. You still have a little bit until they are in pre-school so no rush to a decision now 🙂 I’m currently doing some part-time work just for extra cash. Plus side is that my mother is loving the time she gets to spend with her granddaughter. I miss my lil one at work though 🙁

Hi Hannah, i think it just depends on your circumstance, financial, personal etc. I was a stay at home mum for many years, my hubby never once forced me back into the work force, when my youngest turned 4 i started some casual work just to get out the house whilst she was at pre school, now that my girls are back at school i work part time hours during school hours, my hubby works long hours and i need to be the one to take them to school and pick them up, i love it, more time with my babies. My neighbour has been a stay at home mum for years, her youngest is 14 years and this works well for them. Parenting is a full time job as it is so just enjoy the time you have with your angels then when the moment you decide you feel ready to go back you will know. take care 🙂
