Baby Shower Gifts

I’v got a friend’s baby shower coming up soon and as this is my first, I’m really confused as to what to get. I’ve asked her what she wants and she doesn’t have any particular things in mind. Should I make a hamper of the baby ‘necessities’ or go for something a bit special. It’s her first and she’s having a boy so I want to get something she will really like. I like the idea of a hamper but then I don’t know what to put in it. I’m not a mother myself so I’d love some ideas of the kind of things you need as a new mum, but may not buy yourself, that would make a great gift!

Some of the useful things I have received in a baby hamper was nappies, wipes, blankets, toys, baby wash and a lovely book for my son.

I’ve reported the previous post by rachel2210 as spam. The website that was mentioned in the post is for a Canadian baby store.

Hey, some really nice ideas for baby shower!! I hope when my friends baby shower comes, I dont have to think much, because all you people just made my work easier!! Even i agree giving stuff toys is just so boring, as the person just ends up having soft toys only in the room, as it is the most easiest!or giving a baby diary too is so old, What you can give her is maternity clothes!! Then you can give her something which could help her decorate her baby room!! Like cushion or bed-sheets!! Try something new, then there are online baby shopping sites like Hushbabies, which would make your work more easier, as you dont have to waste your time and money!! As they have these amazing super savers, which would be in your budget!! hope it helps!! Suggest some more ideas, guys!! XOXO

I got a baby shower coming up and was looking into getting the GAIA Natural Baby Starter Kit – I have had a look around target and priceline but had no luck finding this kit. I will try chemist warehouse next as it’s also sold there too. Has anyone seen this around? TIA 🙂

Get something for the baby and something for the mum, can’t go past a little pamper pack for the mummy.
Nappies are always a big winner so add them into the little pack you make up. Clothes are always good aswell but so many people tend to buy a lot of small sizes and then the parents have lots of little sizes and no bigger sizes, they grow so quickly so half the outfits my daughter got, she didn’t get to wear.

How about books? Nappies and books a child will grow out of, stuffed toys become blase, hampers are nice but not all products are used. But books last forever and you can get a selection for all ages. A nursery rhyme reminder for parents is also good.

If you go for nappies, try to get different sizes if you can and loads of wipes. I fancy nappy bag may be in order to make your friend feel special. At my baby shower, we knew the gender and had a theme which made it easy for guests to choose what they liked. Whether she plans to breastfeed or bottle feed, a boppy pillow and nurse shield saved me. They hold the baby perfectly and feeding goes so smooth. Also, did she register for baby items at a particular store? That would give you an exact list.

I agree with sprinkles, might be a good idea to get something for the parents! Their free/luxury time will be coming to an end soon!

But othewise, I usually give clothes in larger size (like 6 months), a hamper, and nappies are good too, but not very exciting! Sometimes people give baby jewellery too, like gold, but that might be better for family members.

I like sprinkles idea for a family photo session – dress the baby up in cute adorable outfits!
