We called our daughter Raya Hope because she is our ray of hope. We were inspired by the song a little ray of sunshine. It means heaven in Bulgarian and friend in Hebrew so she is also a heavenly friend.

    Congratulatons!!!
I named my daughter lily after the flower and named my son after a dream (going from Matthew to Harry) I had as I’m very superstitious plus it sounded better next to their last names.
I also considered how their names would fit with them during adulthood and I think they both sound pretty professional as well:)

Well I found a name “Saman” which means Jasmine from the list of Australian names in http://www.babynology.com/australian_babynames.html. Still it is not confirmed. May change it if I find something better.

My mom had this odd obsession about number 5, so all 3 of her kids have 5 letters in names: Ailyn, Alwyn and Simon.

    Me?
I married a guy name Ben. So i managed to go Ailyn, Ben, Calvin and my soon to be born daughter’s name will start with D.

just one of the weird things we think off….

Oh that`s great idea though, “” fix to one thing and follow it you`ll probably reach to destination”” like you mother did.

And congrats for being pregnant, hope to get good news soon.

So finally what name did you chose for your princess?

A family name perhaps? Like a favourite relative? A character from your favourite book? If all else fails, borrow one of those baby Name books from the library and try to narrow it down, make sure you say the name aloud to see how it feels/sounds. Naming a baby is a huge deal, I never knew until it came down to naming ours.

Yeah I have shortlisted some and found some very unusual names like “”Love”” “”grace”” “”Noel”” “”Red”” “”Faith”” which are actually the names. It sounds interesting,

    Congratulations marissapaul!

I’m also conscious of initials. My initials are MF. It could be worse, but it’s something to consider.

Any name you consider unusual could end up being the most common name of kids in his/her class. Mum said my name was unusual at the time, but there was always another girl or two in my various classes who had my given name. I was named after a Beatles song, & so were all the others. My niece asked me which song once! – I answered her: “I am the Eggman!” (You don’t know my name, but my niece does! Lol!)

My sister kept shouting names angrily to decide what to call her kids. She figured that’s how she’d be saying their names most of the time.

Choose names that sound ok shortened too. Personally i like uncommon names rather than names everyone has.

Congrats on the birth of your baby! Such an exciting time! I didn’t name my youngest one until he was 2 days old, and even then I was struggling too!
I don’t think there really is a trick.
Just read names lists and baby books and write down all of the ones which you like, don’t over think at this point just write it on the list.
It will then help give you something to work with.
Don’t tell people about names on your list keep them between you and your partner, everyone has an opinion about a name, and I crossed a few off as a well meaning friend or family member would say ‘oh I knew a child with that name, was the naughtiest child I’ve ever met, and I can’t help but think all children with that name are horrible’
With my first child I had that name picked out by the time I was about 5 weeks pregnant, lucky for me he was a boy!! Lol
All the best for you and your family!

      Thanks, Princess 🙂

Shortlisting is becoming difficult , though I`ve found some sites regarding that.
