It's okay if there's nothing, lol... feel free just to rant
Hmmmm... It's not the first time and I just found out she was out getting drunk and parting with the girls from work last night...
Real depressed she is!
Thanks for your lovely words Veronicaa, it would just be nice foe her to be a friend and actually ask how I am. At this point don't care if she's gone I'm 23 she's 25 both old enough to know what is acceptable and not when it comes to treating people well!
AHHHH rant over girls I am sorry!
Why do the hot guys come along when your taken....
Thats alright SparklesSuzi I'm sure everythings gonna turn out fine.
This mite not sound like much, but i remember in yr 6 my best friend (since kindy) brought in cake for the whole class coz it was her birthday so obviously everyone didnt get much cake. Well at lunch, she took out 2 cupcakes and ate one herself, and i thought she was going to give me the other, but instead she gave it to some chick who we now dont realy like... in fact we kinda hate her haha but they had only been friends since like the start of that year or less and i just felt a bit rejected i mean its only a cupcake but its not about the cupcake itself! So yeah I got a bit pissed like wen I was kinda sad and didn't feel like playing footy with our friends (I sat by myself somewhere) she just left me and went to play footy so that just made me even more sad..
But now, we're closer than ever becoz we dont go to the same skl and I love her to bits now I wouldnt kno wat I'd do without her.
Yep, just thought I'd share a few childhood moments there :)
My computer is giving me the willies, ARGH, It just won't let me submit my review for the TT, so annoying, I'm going to have to either borrow someone's computer, like that can happen today, ARGH, or end up at the local library tomorrow with 2 kiddies in tow. ARGH! Highly frikn annoying.
I HATE how supermarkets and large variety stores eg Big W are putting in self serve registers. We pay for the goods and then have to serve outselves?????? These are causing job loses and I refuse to use them as one day my children will want a job and may not be able to get one.
I was in Big W one day and one of the stores workers asked me to use self serve instead of waiting. I quickly informed her that I wouldn't support Big W's push to introduce self serve because it would cost jobs. The elderly lady behind patted me on the shoulder and congratulated me on my 'standing up for workers'. The funny thing was not one person left the check out line to go to the self serve line!
I totally agree with you BB
I think its terrible that workers are being placed by machines. I always use a check out rather a self serve machine.
Okay, please don't yell at me but I thought that I better pop this in.
The self-serve machines that you're referring to don't actually cut people's jobs. Infact they actually created a lot more. I work at a woolies store and trust me the amount of effort that has to go in to loading the machines with money, maintenance (for when they break-often) and the unloading and counting of money at night has created a lot more jobs than what was previously there.
Personally I don't understand the reason why people like to put their own groceries through (especially a full trolley- seriously it'll take you ten times longer to put it through then gettting a service cashier to do it for you). But I do find them easier when I have a couple of items as there are six machines there at my store (which take up less space then putting in six actual human manned checkouts.
So I guess I just fel that I needed to say nobody has lost their jobs.
So are they not actually going to employ less checkout staff, what do they do all day until the time comes when the till has to be counted though?? I will ask my mum what she knows also, she is a supervisor at Woolies and has worked there for about 15 years :)
I thought they employ lesser checkout staff?? Seems to be the case here in sydney
No, there hasn't been cut backs at all in staff. There's a person who must be in there all the time manning the machines. And they've had to put on extra people in the office in the morning to help dish out all the money. At night time someone has to be there to pull it all out and pack it up in the office.
As for what they do during the day, if there isn't enough work in the office to do they often go out and help groceries do their work of putting up tickets or stocking shelves.
Trust me. Nobody lost their job when they came in at all. I've been working there for seven years so far and while I hate being in the self-serve area to help customers (mainly because the don't listen to the instructions and think they know it all) they are convenient for small purchases and they do take up less room and there is a huge appeal to people to do it yourself. Maybe the novelty will wear off after a while. Dunno.
OMG I LOVE THE SELF-SERVICE!!!!!!!! :D
me and my friends alwaays go to woolies or big w and buy anything just to use the self serve haha its so fun :)
I'd rather line up in a long line at a self serve than go to a short checkout haha.
Oh wow thx for sharing that info Hely i also thought it wouldve cut jobs but i forgot that there needed to be ppl counting the money and stuff like that.
wouldnt it cost more money to maintain these machines than pay someone a wage? s wouldnt there be more money into this project !
ah well i shop at aldi mostly ! ALDI ALL THE WAY !
Plus to add to that has anyone ever been to a big supermarket, the ones that now have self-serve checkouts, and seen all of the checkouts open? NEVER, EVER, EVER, it' so annoying to be lined up when there are half a dozen closed checkouts. Although these checkouts aren't manned, or womaned =D, it gives the consumer more checkout options as even if the six automated checkouts weren't there the store wouldn't have six people employed instead. I'm with Hely in that I used to love going to Woollies in the town I used to work in as I could grab a few things and be out really quickly instead of waiting and waitng especially for people in the express aisle with heaps of stuff, grrrrrrrr.
I wish Kmart had selfserve aisles, I hate going there just before close and they basically have one aisle still open for all of the last minute shoppers as all of the other tills are being shut down, that's another grrrrrrrrrrr.
Hely, There may not have been any cut backs yet, but when people start using them all the time they won't replace staff that leave. It is like when Coles and Woolies starting introducing their own lines like 'Select'. They said they wouldn't push out the little companies. I shop at an independant because they have more than 1 or 2 brands of various products.
It will happen seen it before and will see it again.
Well, the store where I work have had the machines in since the beginning and we're getting busier all the time and everysingle checkout is in use at our peak points and if anything I think we've increased our front end staff so I still maintain that nobody has or will loose their jobs.
I supoose you could think of it the same way you do about automatic tellers. Do you avoid these machines simply because you fear you're going to do a bank teller out of their job??? No! Of course not. It's more convenient to use ATMs instead of lining up at a bank.
I guess it's just technology and that's the way things are going. The majority of customers like using these sorts of machines andas long as the majority are keen on this sort of technology that's all that matters.
Just felt like I needed to say my piece as it frustrates me when people assume that jobs were cut when they weren't at all. It's personal choice whether you want to use the machines or not but don't assume you're doing us staff some huge favour by letting us keep our jobs. It's nonsense.
Lol Yvette. yea aldi's alrite but i shop at woolies most of the time (i always beg my mum to go to the selve serve wen we dont hav much stuff)
well, when you are a student, and have a mortgage aldi is way cheaper for meats and packaged things.
anyways, this is the what annoys us thread, thanks for the info ladies, but, self serve are annoying !
but aldi does actually have food that are really nice! their chocolate biscuits are really nice and their chocolate (my friends gav me some) and i loovee their frankfurts and sausages mmmm and their choc chip muffin bars yummo.
Um wat annoys me is during tennis doubles, most of the partners hi five/slap each other even if they lost the point. AFTER EVERY GAME! I kno its probs to say 'we did well' or 'we tried our best' but seriously it gets annoying!
And i get annoyed at my dad wen he gets annoyed at tennis players exhaling while hitting the ball lol. (especially girls) yeah it can be painful listening to them screaming but u should listen to my dad!!! he starts swearing at them.. sorry, AT THE BLOODY TV! he looks like a lunatic lol. well he is actually..
Hely I was around when the introduction of ATM's come in and the banks were full of Full Time tellers. We were assured that this would always be the case. Having worked for one of the big banks I have seen the cut backs. You would battle to find a full time teller (customer service rep) anywhere. The small country towns have had their services cut.
Believe me big companies don't do things like this without cut backs in staff and cost savings. We as a society can put our heads in the sand or we can make a stand and refuse to use them.
I am sure with internet banking, jobs have been cut back with the banks BB
Well that's your opinion for the moment and that's okay. This is a thread for what's annoying 'you'. And what annoys me is people saying that we're losing our jobs and we're not. And people acting as if they're doing us some huge favour really annoys me when they don't have all the facts.
You may be right about in the future but for the moment we're not getting any cutbacks.
I guess it's one of those things that people will forever argue about machines taking over for people. Only time will tell I guess if people will have to put their entire grocery load through themselves which I think is utterly ridiculous and it will never come to that. The machines are designed for small orders to make shopping more efficent.
So moving on from this topic; what annoys me is absolutely nothing good on tv to watch. I'm all for a bit of sport. But when there'c cricket and tennis and then the other channels can't seemingly find anything good to put on it really annoys me. On the upside, it does let me hop on to bh. So maybe it's not so bad.
whats annoying me?
1) the fact that it is harder to find healthy alternatives and when you do it is more expensive!!!
2) nobody can voice their opiion freely anymore!!
Big mall / shopping centres mite not have cut back but smaller towns do . In there woolworths Our commwealth bank had cut backs from 30 to 20 .
What's annoying me?
As Elaine said nobody can voice their opinion freely.
Hely how do you know that other people don't know all the facts? Maybe some of the other BH members are in this line of work.
I am also annoyed at the lack of TV, I do love the tennis, but can't wait for some of my old favs to return to the TV.
At the moment I am annoyed at the incompetence of the NSW government.
Totally agree with you elaine on healthy food choices are more expensive ! Not fair at all!
