The tampon tax is #bloodyannoying – do you agree?

Hi beauties!

This is a bit of a different topic for us to discuss but a really important one.

In case you’ve missed it in the news, ever since the introduction of the GST, women have been paying tax on tampons. By contrast, lubricants and Viagra have always been GST exempt.

beautyheaven has joined forces with Australia’s leading women’s magazines to unite behind the push to drop the tax.

If you would also like to join this initiative then we would LOVE you to head to the petition page to add your name in support.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

No more tampon tax from today 1/1/2019. Happy New Year…

It’s laughable that it was ever considered a ‘luxury’, Clearly something thought up by a man.
I hope the prices really will drop, knowing the current government though, they’ll find some other way to tax us.

So glad they are removing this tax. It was ridiculous and not a ‘luxury’.

Woolies had half price on some feminine hygeine products this week so have stocked up on a few things. These products should never have been taxed in the first place.

Will the ACCC be monitoring prices?

I foresee a slight drop then cent by cent it will be back up with the companies making more and no GST going to the government.

Their loss and their fault for putting it in in the first place.

AND the consumer will be no better off money wise.

I’m really hoping for you ladies that they actually drop the prices, but it wouldn’t surprise me if everything stayed the same. Someone keep an eye on it?

I’m a bit of a cynic too, I feel ultimately we will pay the same. Who else picks them up mostly when they are on sale anyway when they can?
I doubt the sale prices will drop further, the shelf price will, which is good for the unexpected earlier arrival, but we will still continue to pay the same at the end of the day.

I heard the government was getting $30 Million per year from this tax. That is crazy. Sneaky and wrong. I do hope the prices go down by 10%. It could be wishful thinking.
