Duplicate reviews?

Hi all. I have been reading some reviews trying to decide what to get from the latest Rewards Room. I have just come across duplicate reviews from two different members. I’m talking, word for word copied and pasted! Has this come up before? Who should I contact about this? Disappointing as some people (myself included) work really hard on their reviews, and if people are copying others’ reviews in order to boost their points it’s quite unfair!

    I think this has to do with the previous voting system on beautyheaven. Like skincare junkie said you were allowed to do multiple reviews and it was allowed.
    I think everyone is jumping ahead here.
    Like I also mentioned it was the way to win the competitions which is why you will see multiple reviews by same members for products- THE WINNERS WERE CHOSEN BY BEST REVIEWS- AND thus had to resubmit there review during voting period. It was allowed even if it was a duplicate.

      That review was written well after that system ended as it’s dated May 2017 so the duplicate review thing ended long before that if memory serves me? I have been here around 3 years and remember the last big BH rollover to the new system and all sorts of weird and not so wonderful things went wrong. That member posted here on the forums regularly I don’t think she’d copy a review.

        oh i see. i just didnt want people to get too carried away without knowing facts. anyways it must be with all that system upgrades- so many issues.

    technically once its posted doenst bh own the review- as per the terms and conditions?
    I think we have to be incredibly cautious about how we handle these situations.

    If this is the one by a member starting with S and 154 reviews I really think this is a glitch in the BH system rather than intentional plagiarism. This member used to frequent the forums and I doubt she would have done it. Also you shouldn’t be able to post 2 reviews with the same username as the system doesn’t allow this, more than likely a glitch.

      It`s just weird as the actual title of the review is different from sj`s review. I would think if it was a glitch that everything would be exactly the same, but who knows as I`m not technologically savvy at all, haha! Hopefully that IS the case though.

      Makes more sense if it is a glitch. I was taken aback when I saw it was someone with lots of reviews. When I first saw the thread, I thought it was one of our resident spammers. I don’t think any genuine members would do that.

    Good finding Lizabella. You should change the name of this thread from duplicate review to plagiarized review. A duplicate review is if the same person posted the same review twice. Such a shame but not uncommon. Loads of people get by on other people’s work.

      GeeJ, I named it that way just as I don`t want to accuse anyone of intentionally doing the wrong thing. It certainly appears to have been copied and pasted, but perhaps there really is an innocent explanation (like a system glitch as duality has pointed out).

        Lizabella, it is now apparent to me about the duplicate, on my phone it wasn`t obvious. It does look like a glitch because the member has her own review afterwards. When browsing on my phone, I feel like I miss seeing lots of things.

        Same GeeJ, I am on my phone too and I didn`t notice her other review until someone else pointed it out! I have also noticed a few parts of the website are difficult to access on my mobile and have to use the laptop!

    There were some duplicates that I picked up on earlier in the year or at the end of last year. I just emailed bh and the issue was addressed.

    Maybe we should all be more vigilant, but I suppose we don’t stop to consider every day that there are unscrupulous members on the site.

    I know which one you mean! Then they did another one literally a few minutes later too. Seriously why do people do this? I can’t understand why you would copy someone’s review and also how there are 2 reviews from the same person as well on 1 product? The option to review doesn’t come up if you’ve already done it so I wonder how it happens?

    Good detective work Lizabella!

    I think I may have had someone steal my review & then post it word for word on a product once, years ago. My memory is a bit hazy, so forgive me, but it was dealt with I’m sure.

    Good job for noticing it Lizabella. I wonder how many more there are that haven’t been noticed. I can’t believe that someone will do that when I’ve read a number of times on BH that duplicate reviews are not accepted. They are obviously not a true BH member and just want points for rewards. The site states that point raking members
    will be banned from the Rewards program or even the site entirely which is definitely fair.
