DANCING WITH THE STARS CHANNEL 10

I just saw where they mentioned some of the celebrities that are going to be on DWTS which has now been moved to Channel 10. I just hope the comperes of Grant Denyer doesn’t scream out like he does on his other shows. Amanda Keller is the other host.

This years celebrities that I heard of are
Miguel Maestre
Denise Scott
Michelle Bridges
Courtney Act
Samuel Johnson
Cassanda Thorburn
Olympa Valance
Jett Kenny

I can’t remember the other names they mentioned.

I might tape and watch it later so I can whiz past some of them.

I always suspected that Samuel Johnson would win based on his charity Love Your Sister. As it turned out, I really enjoyed his performances last night. However, I really wanted Courtney to win. I hope that Courtney will be offered many more exciting career opportunities.

I used to watch Dancing With The Stars each week many years ago, but I stopped watching the last few seasons when it was still on Channel Seven. I prefer the show now that it is on Channel Ten. I also think that it’s great to see more of Amanda Keller on TV.

I remember reading even before DWTS started that they had said Sam was the hot favourite to win. I really think it’s his charity that draws the people and Sam being who he is.

He has been entertaining with his dancing throughout the competition but Courtney I felt was the best to win but I knew that Sam would be the winner. His controversial comments leading up to the finale I think thought of helped his cause not backfired on him at all.

Yes, I will admit his final dance was great and he deserved those 10s.

I actually preferred DWTS on Channel 10 then 7. I do like Amanda Keller. I actually preferred that guy(can’t think of his name) that took over while Grant was in hospital.

You mean the handsome Scott Tweedie? Yes, I preferred him over Denise Scott (and no, not just cos I think Scott`s a bit of eye candy).

Ah yes that`s his name Seashells – I think he`s great as a compere. He was on another show helping out and he was very entertaining. I just wish TV stations would not put someone like Grant on every show that crops up. You get sick of the same one doing the same new shows all the time.

How did we all feel about the finale last night? TBH I found it to be far too padded, if you get my drift. The show could’ve had an extra 1/2 hour lopped off of it & we would’ve got to the result sooner. I’d forgotten that aspect about live reality TV show competitions & last night made me realise how much I hate that particular aspect.

As for the result, although I am happy that Sam won (he was one of my faves & is still one of my fave people on telly), I couldn’t help but feel that Courtney got gipped in a way. I felt like all season long they were setting her up for the win only to dash her chances right at the end, despite near perfect/perfect scores for her final dances. I think it would’ve been another watershed moment in Aussie TV history to have a queer person win a reality competition, also dancing in a same-sex couple. It would’ve been momentous for a country like ours who hasn’t exactly got the best record when it comes to LGBTQIA+ issues.

That said, the public spoke & Sam had a massive legion of fans right behind him via Love Your Sister; and despite some controversial comments in the lead up to the finale re: how the voting system on the show works, he still won fair & square. I have to admit I reckon his final dance was better than Courtney’s & I think he deserved full 10’s across the board.

All in all, I really enjoyed the show this year & I hope it comes back next year. I know the ratings haven’t been what Channel 10 would’ve wanted, but I think if they don’t launch it until later in the year (i.e. after MAFS) then they might stand a better chance against the other networks. I think the production values on 10’s version are better than what they were when 7 did it. The 7 version became stale after a while IMO.

I really enjoyed watching the judges dance with the other contestants. Yes, Craig’s character was like…….OMG, scarey but he can dance.

It had to be Curtly gone last night as although he is a really nice guy, watching him dance was a bit ummmm, although he has improved from the beginning.

Bumping this thread because finally, after 2 weeks of shock eliminations & disappointment on this viewer’s behalf, the right contestant was booted off last night (Curtly). As much as I liked him (how could you not like that smiling face?), he was there at the expense of both Olympia & Michelle who, IMO, were much better dancers than he was. That said his partner performance last night was his best dance yet.

I also quite enjoyed watching the judges dance last night. Craig scared me a bit with his bad makeup lol.

I love watching how people grow and evolve when dance is part of their lives. It must be so good for you – physically mentally (definitely giving the brain a workout) and emotionally.

First show I thought Curtly who? Ok not into cricket and this guy was so bad and he must have a lot of supporters as he’s still there.

But he’s really grown on me and after his last performance – he CAN dance! High praise to his dance partner too. To me it’s all about growth and I can’t believe I’d like to see Curtly win.

Speaking from experience Kassalee I certainly felt joyous whenever I was dancing & still do whenever I get the chance. Latin music in particular makes me happy whenever I hear it. Must be a hangover from my salsa dancing days.

I was sad to see Olympia go last night because there are two others there that I thought would have been gone before her. She danced brilliantly last week.

Then I thought about it….she would never go far as she is on that show which is aired on Channel 9.

I do hope Courtney wins. I am more thinking that the people out there will go for Sam though. I just hope they vote for the right person. hmmmm maybe I should vote.

I forgot to comment about last week’s show, but I will now. I am so so glad that Cass finally got voted out. That last dance of hers was absolutely atrocious; I had to look away from the TV screen.

This week, however, I was shocked that Olympia got the boot, especially given how well she did last week. To be fair though, her dance this week was on the underwhelming side. I honestly thought that Curtly (bless him) would go, based on his not so great judge’s score. I think she should’ve stayed at least 1 more week & Curtly (again, bless him) should’ve gone, but alas, that’s the way the cookie crumbled.

I feel like Sam & Constance have both plateaued at a time where others (like Jett & Michelle) are on the up. Even Courtney last week had plateaued but came back like the champ she is this week. I feel like in the end this may come down to not necessarily the best dancer, but who can corral the troops on social media to vote. Still feel like Courtney will win though.

Last night’s show was an emotional one that’s for sure!

For me Courtney, Sam & Olympia’s performances were the most powerful & highly deserving of their top places on the leaderboard. Jimmy is really improving week to week & I noticed it last night. Still, I do feel it’s a 2-horse race between Courtney & Sam atm.

Denise’s performance was a trainwreck from start to finish sadly (and not much cha-cha in it either), so I’m not surprised she got the boot. I’ll miss her clapping back at Craig though.

I think Cass is only hanging on due to public sympathy; for me she’s holding back far too much & is being dragged around the floor by her partner (I will agree with whichever judge said that).

Everybody else was either forgettable or middle of the road.

Whoa I cried with Olympia`s performance, it was just so moving. I didn`t know that she was in a bad relationship either. I also felt Courtney`s was absolutely amazing as was Sams too.

Denise was terrible to watch but then she is older and does have hip and knee and ankle problems…..but I loved her cracks back at judge Craig. I think she was rather pleased to go.

Cass is terrible and totally agree with what the judge said too.

I too caught up with the first episode last night – forgot it was on! Recorded a repeat late one night on one of the TEN channels.

I too hadn’t heard of Constance or Curtly (not a cricket follower) or Constance (now know she’s Holly Valances sister).

Your wrap was spot on Seashells and I love watching how they develope. Hands down better than MAFS!
