Anzac day

A special thought for the diggers that fought for us. We are very lucky to have what we do and be very thankful for all those men and women that fought for what we now have in our lucky country. God bless and thank you for your sacrifices. I will be going to the marches standing proud.

Reviving this 9 year old forum – another good one started by freaky and hoping you’re ok as we haven’t seen you around for a while.

I walked up to my local dawn Anzac service at 5.30am with my two daughters.

Lovely to see a huge crowd as always and nothing beats the bugle solo and a lone bagpiper. Very moving.

Anzac day is very important to me, because my daughter was born!

Yes I am very proud! I bought a badge from a digger yesterday and thanked him personally for his service. I will wear it with pride tomorrow as I work at the local nursing home and am looking forward to catching up with some of the elderly residents as some of them served or had husbands/wives who served.

Jessibear that is very heartbreaking and I will think of you on Anzac Day. Your Grandpa was definitely a real hero!

My grandfather was in the war and though he didn’t die because of it directly, he did die from cancer he got from the communication lines he was installing, they had asbestos in them. His job was so important to all the soldiers as it made it possible for them to communicate where they were and what was happening in the battles. I’m sure he helped to save many lives.

I don’t have his medals, my parents have them stashed away somewhere, but every ANZAC day I pause to remember my grandfather’s sacrifice and service and the service of all the other soldiers. Not just the ANZACs either, but ALL the soldiers past and present who fought and continue to fight for freedom.

RIP Grandpa Neville, and thank you!
