    ScarJo shows us: how to sex up the milkmaid braid

    This isn't any ordinary red carpet combo…

    She may be the ex-Mrs Reynolds, but ScarJo looks every bit the fresh, strong and independent woman on the red carpet for her new flick The Avengers in London last week.

    Not only is she sporting one heck of a milkmaid braid (ding ding ding! Hair with creative flair gets top marks from me), she’s also embracing a bold red lip and a sexy shimmery eye that makes me want to scrap today’s natural eye and pink lip combo and tap into a piece of this pretty action.

    Too often we’re seeing celebrities flaunting brushed-out curls and simple ponytails – or playing it safe with a smoky eye and a nude lip. So when someone really bites the bullet and strives to stand out from the crowd – well, I pin it as a look worth copying, don’t you?

    Get this look:

    • - Start with a peachy, gold shimmer shadow swept over your eyelid. We love Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow in Rose Gold for its buildable colour.
    • - Next, load up your lashes with a black as black mascara that lifts and curls as you sweep. We love Bourjois Volume Glamour Ultra Black Mascara for its intense pigment and ability to lift your lashes from root to tip.
    • - For your lips, choose a nourishing lipstick that will stay put for hours and won’t leave your lips feeling dry and chapped. We love Lancome Rouge in Love lipstick in shade 185N for a bold red hue that is sure to stop traffic. Added nourishing and repairing oils work to ensure your lips are left feeling oh-so kissable.
    • - To mimic ScarJo’s do, start your braid behind your left ear and begin braiding around your hairline, take hair from the top of your head when braiding the top and then pull the rest into the braid as you begin braiding around the nape of your neck. Fasten the end when you reach your start point and tuck the end underneath the braid.

    I love this look. I wish I had thicker/ more hair to pull it off. I think I may need to buy extensions.

    It looks gorgeous on her - like she is wearing a crown. It suits her as she has a lovely shaped face that can carry it off. The red lip with the hair is chic.

    This is one hot mix of smouldering siren and fresh-faced babe - doesn't she look glam! Her eyes & brows are particularly stunning, and I think her face shape really suits the braid. Definitely hot...

    Scarlett looks ah-maze-balls in most pictures but I really love her look, the makeup is so simple and glamorous and the hairdo actually works for her. Like others have said, there are probably not many people who could pull it off though.

    I generally love braided looks but just don't have the patience to sit down in the morning and invest hours into getting it right. Because sloppy braid looks are worse than no look at all :-p

    I think at the moment the trend of the milkmaid braid is ok for the red carpet look, but if the style were to become more commonplace then a more glamorous or different look is needed for the red carpet. Scarlette wears the milkmaid braid really well and looks chic, when she teems it with the great make-up look.
