Double-duty hair combos
A big event usually means a few installments of celebrations (think wedding ceremony then on to the reception, school formal then on to an after-party, hot date then on to…you get my drift!).
It’s easy enough to update your make-up look going from one part to the other, but what about when it comes to your hair?
Enter beautyheaven and our guide to creating a couple of big day-worthy hair combos that can be quickly transformed on the go, and are guaranteed to last as long as you do…
The pony-to-knot combo
Part one: the sleek ponytail
1.) Spritz your hair with a heat protection spray such as Wella Professional High Hair Flat Iron Spray, and use a hot iron to straighten out any kinks or waves.
2.) Once done, tip your head upside-down and brush into a high ponytail, smoothing the front and sides with a light-hold wax such as Toni&Guy Defining Wax. Secure in place with a snag-free elastic band.
3.) Finish with a spritz of hairspray such as Cedel Firm Hairspray.
Part two: the top knot
1.) Grab the end of your ponytail and twist your loose hair until it resembles a tight rope.
2.) Wind the rope around the base of your ponytail and fasten securely with bobby pins – too easy!
• This combo works best on unwashed locks as the natural oils from your hair will help hold your ‘do together and minimise any flyaways.
• For an extra chic air, wind a piece of loose hair around the base of your ponytail and pin in place to hide the elastic band.
The wave-to-bun combo
Part one: the sexy waves
1.) Prep your damp hair with a volumising mousse such as TRESemmé Volume and Lift Mousse, before diffuse drying the product into your hair to enhance natural movement.
2.) Once dry, spritz your strands with a heat protection spray, before using a curling tong such as Remington Curl It (C1419) to create curls.
3.) Shake your hair slightly and gently run your fingers through your hair to loosen any tight ringlets and create more relaxed waves.
4.) Secure your style with a misting of finishing shine spray such as ghd Reflection Spray.
Part two: the tousled bun
1.) Sweep your loose waves towards one shoulder, gently raking your fingers over the top of your head as you go to pull in any stray strands yet still maintain some texture.
2.) Twist your hair into a low, loose bun that sits slightly off centre and secure in place with bobby pins.
3.) Give your head a shake to allow some tendrils to fall sexily around your face.
• While you curl your hair, twist and loosely pin up each completed section until your entire head is done. This will help to ensure extra longevity in your waves.
• Keep a cute jeweled hair clip in your bag and secure it to the side of your tousled bun for instant evening glamour.
