High class hair
Celebrity hairstylist Alan Coban directs that Angelina's up-stylesimply won't work on dirty hair and recommends a volumising shampoo andconditioner as prep. Then, he says…
Spritzsome root booster onto your towel-dried hair, working the product fromthe scalp down to the tips of your hair, before blowing your manealmost dry.
Next, use a blow-dryer and brush to sweep hair awayfrom your face, pulling your length upward to amp up the volume at theroots. You can add a little shine serum now – just don't go overboardand land in lank territory.
For Angelina-esque oomph, you'llneed to tease your hair from the roots before smoothing it backwardtoward your crown with a comb (your soft bristle or paddle brush willwork too, just be gentle) and securing the length in a high ponytail.Set with a little hairspray, ensuring you calm any chic-destroying flyaways without creating a high-shine 'helmet'.
Now,roll the length and fold it back into itself until you create a bun.Any strays can be poked into place with a tail comb before you securethe bun with bobby pins.
It's all about the eyes
Angelina's feline-like eyes sexed up her smoky St John dress toperfection. Winged eyeliner isn't exactly a new departure for Ange, butif it ain't broke…
True, this look is all about the eyeliner, but you need to lay the groundwork with eyeshadow first. Ange has gonewith a neutral shadow across her entire lid and a smokey brown shadedrawn along the crease for definition. Try Gorgeous Cosmetics Colour Pro Eye Shadows ($30 each) in Natural and Mushroom.
Whenit comes to creating a feline flick, liquid liner defines like nothingelse, but, unless you're well practised, start with a black pencil.
Beginningat the outer corner of your upper lash line, pencil on a thick outlinethat thins out as it moves toward the inner corner of your eye.
Next, extend the line from the outer corner of your eye and upward, creatinga little 'wing'. This should bridge your upper and lower lash lines, solightly trace the pencil beneath your lower lashes too, stopping at thecentre of your eye.
Now intensify the look by drawing blackliquid liner over the pencil. Do this along your top lid only – youwant to keep the line beneath your eye soft. Try the supereasy-to-wield Liquid Eye Liner from MAC, ($32).
Create flutter-worthy lashes with a quick curl and a lashing or two of jet black mascara. If you've not yet discovered it, Rimmel's Magnif'eyes Mascara ($15.95) is a lash lengthening marvel. For extra effect, place your wandright at the base of your top lashes and, as you sweep outward, give ita little wiggle and tug to the side. Va-voom!
After camouflaging blemishes with concealer (dabbing it on and blendingwith your fingers is the best method), apply a light layer offoundation.
Withyour hair pulled back, it's crucial that your base doesn't look like amask, so blend, blend, blend around your jaw and neck and remove anyfoundation stuck in your hairline with a damp cotton ball.
Angehas naturally killer cheekbones, but you can fake it. Steer away fromred and rosy hues, opting instead for an earthy or peach shade, depending on your skin tone. Beginning at your apples, use a largeblush brush to sweep the colour out toward your ears. Remember, subtlety is the key, so start off with a light layer of colour, building slowly and avoiding harsh lines.
Lips like Ange's speak for themselves, so she's kept it simple with a pretty nude colour and shiny gloss.
Not gifted with a naturally plump pout? Glosses tend to make lips look larger anyway, but a little Naked Kiss Liquid Kiss Lip Gloss Plump & Polish ($19.95) in Aphrodite will give you extra clout.
