The difference between hot and cold wax

It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned DIY waxer or a total newbie, it can be a little confusing trying to figure out which type of wax will suit you best.

We’ve dished everything you need to know about hot wax and cold wax, so you can get silky smooth, hair-free pins – stat!

HOT WAX

Hot wax is a really simple way to get a super smooth bikini line, legs and underarms for up to four weeks. The heat in hot wax encourages the pores and hair follicles to open, so it’s easier to remove the hair.

Applied with a spatula, Veet Natural Inspirations Sugar Wax is a hot wax that contains 100 per cent naturally derived ingredients, including argan oil. This sugar wax will sweeten up your pampering session and leave your skin smooth and incredibly soft. Or, you could opt for another simple hair removal system: the Veet EasyWax Roll-on Kit. Its handheld device features a roll-on applicator for precise application, leaving you with salon-quality results – and at a fraction of the price.

COLD WAX

Cold wax usually comes in the form of wax strips, and – attention beginners! – it’s a cinch to use and leaves minimal mess behind. It’s in a semi-solid form and remains that way throughout the waxing process. Wax strips feature a fabric strip of wax as well a smooth side for pressing the wax onto the skin with your hands, so they’re very hygienic and fuss-free. They usually work best at room temperature, but some wax strips need to be warmed up with your hands.

Wax strips like the Veet EasyGrip Ready to Use Wax Strips Sensitive don’t require heating, and can remove super short hairs, making them perfect for touch-ups before heading out the door (to go on a date, perhaps). Wham, bam, thank you ma’am!

Do you use hot or cold wax for hair removal? If you currently shave, would you ever consider switching to at-home waxing?
