7 strange beauty habits we’re all guilty of

We’ve previously confessed our worst beauty habits and now it’s time to come clean about the strange ones. From shaving our faces, to hiding our smelly, sweaty hair, here is a collection of the wild, wacky and wonderful beauty habits that we’re all guilty of, but rarely admit to.

#1 Removing random body hairs

Admit it, there’s something oddly satisfying about pulling out that dark, curly hair growing out of your mole or the long nipple hair that seemingly appeared overnight. Random body hairs are few and far between, but it’s best to keep a pair of good quality tweezers on your bathroom counter so you’re prepared when you stumble across one. We like Tweezerman for Benefit Slant Tweezer, Manicare Point Tweezers and QVS Tempo Square Tip Tweezers.

#2 Shaving your face

This is one of the hottest (and strangest) beauty habits that has come to light in 2017. Shaving your face exfoliates the skin, offers anti-ageing benefits and creates a super smooth, baby-like base for makeup application. It’s best to use a razor designed for sensitive skin – such as Gillette Venus Embrace Sensitive Razor – and to lock the bathroom door before getting down to business, as your partner might get a little confused.

#3 Only shaving half your legs

Because you haven’t tended to them in a little while and you need to wear a knee-length dress, but you don’t have enough time to shave the entire length of your pins. Remember to use Dermalogica Soothing Shave Cream to minimise irritation and avoid any unsightly shaving rash.

#4 Hiding dirty hair in a bun

It’s been a week since you last washed your hair and you’ve sweated it out at the gym every day (props to you!) but your hair doesn’t look (or smell) too great. Sound familiar?

I thought so. If you’re too lazy to wash and style your locks, at least you can pop them in a top-knot and pretend like you’re making the effort.  Give them a spritz of Lush Sea Spray while you’re at it – with notes of orange flower, grapefruit, neroli and rosewood, it leaves hair smelling delicious!

#5 Ingesting your beauty

No, not your favourite beauty cream – your favourite beauty supplement! Sometimes a good supplement can do the job of a good product, and ensure your hair, skin and nails are looking luscious. We like Swisse Ultiboost Hair Skin Nails+ and Qsilica Beauty Elixir.

#6 Raiding the fridge

Here at beautyheaven, we’re a fan of DIY beauty treatments and the fridge is a great place to start. Skip the midnight snack, and instead head to the kitchen for one of these: avocado for a great, hydrating hair mask; rolled oats (mixed with warm water) to provide effective relief for itchy skin; and honey to fight acne with its antibacterial properties.

#7 Using mouthwash instead of toothpaste

Ok so this one might also classify as a bad beauty habit, but it sure as hell works. Use The Divine Company Refreshing Mouth Rinse in place of toothpaste to get rid of bad breath when you don’t have enough time/can’t be bothered to do the whole shebang.
