How to get your nails wedding ready

Your fingers are never going to get more attention than when you get married. Everybody will be asking to see the ring, you’ll be taking close up photos of your hand in his, holding the bouquet and let’s not forget the pivotal moment when your brand new hubby places the wedding ring onto your finger during the ceremony.

That’s a lot of pressure for your little limbs and I’m sure you’ll want them looking their best for those special moments. No stubby little fingers nails, chipped corners or dry cuticles. So before you decide on the perfect shade of polish, here are a few tips to get your nails ready for him to put a ring on it.

Switch to gel

There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to grow your nails, only to have them chip and break at the slightest sign of friction, forcing you to cut or file them down. So instead of wrapping them up in bubble wrap, try swapping your regular nail polish for a sturdy gel. Bio Scultpure’s Bio Sculpture Gel vs Acrylics helps you to grow healthier nails by lasting up to three weeks (a lot longer than ordinary polish) and is also chip and fade resistant.

Correct your cuticles

Your poor cuticles are often the part of your nail that gets neglected. In fact if you’d asked me a few weeks ago I wouldn’t have even known what a cuticle was, let alone how to look after it. For those like me who didn’t know, your cuticle refers to the part of your skin at the bottom (and sometimes sides) of your nail that has the purpose of protecting the nail from any harmful bacteria. The most common cuticle problem is dryness, which leads to breakage and people cutting their cuticles, which can often do more harm them good. To prevent dry, cracked looking cuticles, try applying a cuticle oil such as Manicare Cuticle Oil once every three days or as needed to hydrate and nourish the skin.

Moisturise

If I had a penny for every time we told you to moisturise on this website, well I’d be sipping champagne on a beach somewhere and not really caring if you were moisturising or not. But lucky for you, I care. To ensure your hands and nails look as good as the rest of your body on your big day, a nourishing hand and nail cream is essential. We recommend applying Revitanail Hand & Nail Cream every night before bed for baby soft hands and even skin tone.

Buff

The same as you should prime to create a flawless canvas for your face; you should buff to create a smooth canvas for your nails. Buffing will rid your nails of any rigid or rough texture and instead leave them smooth, shiny and ready for polish. The Cutex 4 Way Buffer makes buffing easy with its colour coded sides. Buffing regularly can also help prevent yellow nails and stains.
