Nose rings aren’t anything new. But Katie Holmes with a nose ring? That is definitely news to us.
Blame it on our youthful memories of her as Joey Potter on Dawson’s Creek but it’s not the kind of edgy piercing we expected from the actress. Surprising as it may be, however, there’s no denying it actually looks quite good.
The 43-year-old’s nose jewellery recently captured our attention as she stepped out in New York wearing a hoop in her left nostril. But it turns out she had been wearing a more subtle stud already for months. Who knew?! (Not us, obviously).
And it’s not like she was hiding it either, hitting the red carpet multiple times with a small diamond on show.
Pictured here at RiseNY’s official grand opening, Katie was still sporting a stud just weeks before her switch to a hoop.
Evidence of her piercing dates back a lot further, though, with photos as early as September 2021. But with mask-wearing prevalent around this time, it could’ve existed unawares to the public for a lot longer.
Of course, Katie isn’t the first celebrity to have a nose piercing. Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Katy Perry have all worn similar styles in the past.
More recently, septum piercings have proven popular, with FKA Twigs and Zoë Kravitz both often wearing a ring that goes from nostril to nostril.
As far as piercing trends for 2022 go, the nose doesn’t get nearly as much attention as the ears. But we think Katie might be making a case for the return of the classic nose ring…

I am not into piercings other than ears(age thing) but to be honest Kate’s nose ring is really not noticible

I have a pierced nose, I have a few different studs I swap around when I get bored, and I wear larger ones. But some are so tiny it’s very hard to see them, so I’m not surprised nobody noticed katies piercing.
The stud is small and subtle. I don’t have any. It doesn’t appeal to me at all.
Never noticed she had it until now! I like it and she suits it. I have my ears pierced twice in each lobe. I did have my helix pierced ages ago but I let it close and now I’m wanting it pierced again.

I have belly button pierced and 3 holes on my ears I did on my own. Belly ring is on forever, never taken out. I feel naked without it!

My parents wouldn’t let me get my ears pierced when I was younger and never got around to it when I could get it done.

I like the look on. Katie, I have had a nose stud for over 20 years and I will continue to wear it.Some people don’t even notice.

I’ve got multiple piercings in my ears. I had one somewhere else, but it kept working its way out. I got it redone & the same thing happened.
