How-to: remove glitter nail polish

Glittery, textured nail polishes are striking. They’re also a lot fun, and play a fantastic role in nail art. But despite these great qualities, they’re also ridiculously hard to remove. I have even been known to go through a whole pile of cotton pads and an entire bottle of nail lacquer remover without succeeding to remove a single speck of said shimmery stuff. It’s very annoying.

But what if there was an easy way to remove these glittery flecks from your nails? A way that would ensure you’re not scrubbing or picking at your nails just to get them clean? Well, there is. And it’s actually so simple, I don’t know why we’ve never spoken about it before…

HOW TO REMOVE GLITTER NAIL POLISH

STEP 1: Grab yourself 10 cotton wool balls, and cut 10 squares of aluminium foil (around 5cm by 5cm will do just fine).

STEP 2: Saturate a cotton ball in nail polish remover and sit it on top of your nail, before placing a single foil square on top. To secure, wrap the foil around your nail. Repeat this step until one hand is complete.

STEP 3: Allow the remover to soak into the nail polish for five to 10 minutes, depending on how many coats you’ve applied. (Some nail polishes may require more time – it’s all about trial and error.)

STEP 4: Gently slide the foil off each finger, putting pressure on the nail and cotton ball as you do. (This will help grab hold of any last traces of polish.) Once removed, your nails should be free of glitter.

STEP 5: Repeat steps one to four on your other hand.

Ta-da! Easy, right? Sure, it takes a bit of time and effort, but there are not many ladies who’ll mind sacrificing that for clean, glitter-free nails, are there? I didn’t think so.

Have you ever tried to remove glitter nail polish and failed miserably? Do you avoid wearing shimmery lacquers on your digits because they’re hard to remove? Will you use this simple and easy removal trick from now on?
