How to beat the winter slump

Let’s face it, it’s easy to get a little down in the dumps during winter. The weather is dreary, it’s darker earlier and you probably spend more time drinking hot chocolate than enjoying the great outdoors. When it comes to beauty, you’d be forgiven for neglecting your regimen in winter (why shave your legs when it’s too cold to wear a skirt, am I right?), which can also lead to a beauty slump. But fear not ladies, we’re here to salvage your sass and reinstate your summer glow! Check out our four tips for beating the winter slump.

#1 Have a pamper sesh

Is there anything more effective at lifting your mood than a good old pamper session? We think not. Get your bath bombs out, mix some essential oils and give yourself a real at-home spa treatment. Not sure what you need in your kit? We’ve got you…

#2 Try a little top-to-toe maintenance

When you’re a beauty-lover, you know that when you look good, you feel good. Taking care of your body and ensuring your beauty maintenance doesn’t fall behind in winter will keep you in high spirits and help prevent the dreaded slump! Nixing your hairy legs might not be necessary, but is there anything more satisfying than jumping into bed with freshly smooth skin? We don’t think so! Regular hair treatments won’t go astray either – winter weather wreaks havoc on your locks! Here’s what you need:

#3 Give your health a much-needed boost

Winter means the flu season and no matter how strong your immune defences are, it’s likely the sniffles will hit at some point during the cooler months. And even if you manage to escape sickness, fatigue just seems more prevelant this time of year. Luckily, there are ways you can shorten your sickness and strengthen your immunity and energy-levels.  Meet your winter health care kit:

#4 Treat yourself to a beauty overhaul

One of our favourite ways to kick a winter slump in the butt is to splurge on new beauty products. One surefire way to lift any beauty-lover’s spirits is with a shiny new palette, fancy new skin care or a smooth, flawless foundation. Here are a few products that we are loving (some have just hit the shelves!).

  1. I love baths all year round! Trying to work through my stash of bath bombs (hmm, I did a typo on bombs and it suggest ‘no abs’ – I think my iPad is trying to tell me something!)

  2. Definitely doing the pampering sessions with Cloth Masks with anti-aging properties and doing my nails keeping yourself well moisturised all over.

Always great to have Soft and Smooth Skin.

  3. No Winter slump here. I love the cooler weather. I am actually making sure that I use all my different eye makeup palettes in a rotation rather then just sticking to one or two. This is something im really working on at the moment so they all get used and not overlooked.

  4. listening to upbeat music and dancing are good ways to lift spirits and keep warm.
It is just hard to keep dancing, but the nice warm feeling after a good bit of moving around is worth it

  5. I love using body scrubs and nourishing body oils in winter, as well as getting pedicures. I get such dry skin in winter, so anything that is super moisturising makes me feel good through winter. I also love getting a new hair colour in winter, it just helps to change things up a little.

  6. I still dont have time for a pamper sesh! but beauty products are a great way to beat any slump but not so good for the bank balance.

Also love “Friends” only wish that the kids were older as some of the episodes can provoke awkward questions from the kids.
