Drew Barrymore spills the beauty buys she calls her ‘favourite things’

Drew Barrymore is our favourite in a lot of categories: rom-com actresses, talk show hosts, celeb beauty brand owners, etc.

She, however, has a few favourites of her own, as well; taking to Instagram to “round up [her] favourite things to wear, watch, read, eat [and] experience”, Drew shared some of the beauty products she counts as her essentials, and damn, does she have taste.

The best bit? She was refreshingly honest. She might have her own line (Flower Beauty, which is fabulous, FYI), but that certainly didn’t stop her from naming other brands as some of her go-tos, and we’re here for the transparency.

Ready to find out Drew’s faves? Let’s get to it…

L’Oréal Paris Magic Retouch – Instant Root Concealer Spray

Drew’s been rocking an in-between bronde shade for a few years now, and half the beauty of said colour is the limited maintenance that comes with it (the other half being how great it looks on her). She relies on a spritz of this root concealing spray to extend even more between colour appointments; it covers greys and leaves hair looking fresh in a flash.

Lunar Beauty Strawberry Dream Colour Palette ($80.50, beautybay.com)

With 15 strawberry scented shades (delicious), it’s no surprise Drew keeps this palette close by – for sniffing and applying purposes, of course. It’s as fun and fruity as her personality, too, with everything from bright matte blue to iridescent amethyst and metallic gold in the mix.

Dose and Co. Collagen Protein Powder ($49.99, au.doseandco.com)

Look, we happen to think that Drew’s hair, skin and nails look fab at all times, but hey, there’s nothing wrong with a little extra support, right? She gets hers in the form of this vanilla-flavoured collagen protein powder – it’s great for boosting energy, supporting muscle recovery and helping skin, hair and nails to live their glossiest and strongest lives.

Tata Harper Tata x Lure Facial Cupping Set ($50, tataharperskincare)

Anything that claims to offer ‘red carpet results in less than five minutes’ always has us wearing our sceptic hats, but considering this recommendation comes from someone who has graced many an actual red carpet in her life, we believe it wholeheartedly. So, what is it exactly? A glass face cupping set that works to exercise facial muscles and promote circulation while also nixing toxins and evening tone.

It Cosmetics CC+ Cream ($28, sephora.com.au)

A newbie? No. A goodie? Yes. This just confirms what we’ve known all along: Drew has truly impeccable taste. A CC cream that offers full foundation-level coverage (without looking cakey) as well as a bevy of anti-ageing benefits, it works to smooth pores, disguise redness and imperfections, and hit skin with some hyaluronic acid-powered hydration. No wonder she’s a fan.

O’Keefe’s Working Hands Cream ($9.44, au.iherb.com)

Drew may have been born Hollywood royalty (having since backed up said birthright with a killer career), but she still knows a product doesn’t have to be glam to be good. In fact, her hand cream pick proves yet again that she chooses products based on what they do, not what they look like. For example, this cracked hand-healing cream may not look particularly fancy, but it’ll sort dry palms out in no time.

  1. I’ve tried the Magic Retouch spray and it’s great, I haven’t tried any of the others (or even heard of some of them). Like others said it’s good she’s not just spruiking her own line.

  2. I love Drew Barrymore's honesty and down to earth approach. The products are within most people's price range and the makeup that gives a fabulous scent that makes you feel fabulous and then you glow from the inside out.
