How-to: Australia Day nails

Australia Day is almost upon us – hooray!

And if you’re one for getting into the festive spirit (think: wearing an Aussie flag as a cape and sporting a gazllion flag temporary tattoos on any skin that’s bare), then here are two easy-peasy nail looks that’ll leave you feeling just a little patriotic.

GREEN AND GOLD PRIDE

Step one:

Apply two coats of a pale yellow polish.
Try: Burberry Nail Polish in Pale Yellow No.415 or COVERGIRL OutlastStay Brilliant Glosstinis in Pina Colada.

Step two:

Once completely dry, take some sticky tape and place it on your nail, leaving the top left corner bare.
Hint: stick the tape to the palm of your hand and pull back to help remove the tackiness. Repeat a few times.

Step three:

Apply a forest-green polish on the bare left corner of each nail.
Try: Burberry Nail Polish in Sage Green No.420 or Rimmel London 60 Second Nail Polish in Green with Envy.

Step four:

When the green polish is dry, gently remove the sticky tape and paint a gold line as a border between the shades.
Try: Glam by Manicare Nail Art Pen in Metallic Gold or MeMeMe Long Lasting Gloss in Elegant.

AUSTRALIAN FLAG WITH A TWIST

Step one:

Apply two coats of a metallic blue polish on four nails on each hand – leaving both ring fingers bare.
Try: Sinful Colors Pearl in Midnight Blue or Rokk96 in Caz MC.

Step two:

Apply two coats of a vibrant red on your ring fingers.
Try: Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel in Fire or Pretty Woman Nails Gel Logic in Jazzberry.

Step three:

Take a silver glitter polish and apply one coat to the tips of your nails.
Try: Rimmel London Finishing Touch Glitter Top Coat or Australis Glitter Top Coat in Shimmy Shake.

STOCKIST:
