A gradual tan is the secret to a low-commitment, streak-free golden glow — perfect for those not quite confident in their fake tan abilities or to top up your colour as needed.
As the name might suggest, the best thing about gradual tans is that the colour builds up slowly, making it unbelievably easy to achieve an even tan. If you’re too scared to risk failure with a dark foam or spray tan, this is the faux glow product for you. Plus, it’s just as handy for seasoned professionals who’re looking to extend the life of their tan or deepen their colour — with minimal effort, of course.
Here, beautyheaven rounds up 10 gradual tans that are all available right here in Australia, so you can find your perfect match for summer.

Do you have a favourite gradual tan?
I used some of them.
Love the blue bottle of the Bondi Sands Everyday Gradual Tanning Milk. Never used it though
it does look interesting
Have used the Jergens and Dove.
Lots to choose from
Too Many !
The Jergens one is pretty good
good to know
I have used St Tropaz and Dove
I’ve tried a few, I’m not a regular user though.
Some good products to try.
I prefer a gradual colour build
St Tropez works very well. Easy to apply and does give a very natural tan look.
I’m currently using Dove, easy to use and loving the colour
I like the affordable options!
So many different brands now
Lovely budget friendly products.
I never got into tanning.
If I’m going on a cruise and my legs still have the winter white look then I’ll use a self-tanning product just on my legs to give a hint of colour.
I don’t use these products
I just don’t like tans, natural or artificial. I don’t want one, and I don’t really like them on others.
Can’t be bothered with fake tan anymore!
So many to choose from.
The only way I get colour.
