Toothpaste

Hi there!

Recently i’ve heard rumors that some people, after brushing their teeth, don’t wash out their mouth with either water or mouth wash.
I personally think that’s disgusting but apparently by doing so, your actually helping your teeth.
Is this true or do i have to change my daily routing?

Thanks

I rinse to due to habit as a child. I don’t like strong flavours in my mouth as it affects the next thing I eat. Toothpaste has many different ingredients, rinsing is a final cleanse.

I would not think this was a good practice. Toothpaste has a lot of chemicals in it and I wouldn’t want that left in concentrated form in my own mouth. We have flouridated water anyway in Australia so I don’t think you need to get more from toothpaste. There are dangers in having too much toothpaste in your system. No don’t do that!! Every standard/ traditional toothpaste says to rinse because what they use in toothpastes aren’t safe to swallow.

I read on my Mcleans paste that it says to rinse out after brushing and I only feel better and clear of any paste after I wash my mouth off cleanly.

I tried not to wash my mouth after brushing but can’t feel comfortable to eat and drink, tastes differently.

Yes it is true. I tried it and didn’t like it as it felt like it was dirty toothpaste. So I rinsed and then with my finger I rubbed a small amount of fresh toothpaste over my teeth. I found this to irritate the mucosa of my mouth though so I stopped that as well.

Extra fluoride builds super strong teeth, but if you get too much while you are developing you can get fluorosis like I have (and a lot if people in my area have as the fluoride levels in our water is quite high) which creates a mottled, uneven coloured pattern on your teeth.

i never rinse my mouth after brushing, i just spit out the excess. I’m not sure how much it benefits your teeth but i havent had to have a filling in years

Yep, I’ve heard it’s better for your teeth because the toothpaste has flouride in it, which you’re just rinsing out when you rinse your mouth after brushing.
