“Spring has sprung, the grass has riz”…yeh, yeh we know the rest (and since when is there such a word as ‘riz’?), I don’t need a cutesy rhyme telling me that spring has arrived - I always know when it comes in.
Why? Because while others are frolicking around in the sunny-yet-totally-unpredictable weather and smelling blossoms in meadows, I’m the one sneezing uncontrollably into bits of used tissue and struggling to open my watering eyes against the suddenly too-glaring light.
Yep, that’s right – I’m a MAJOR hay fever sufferer. So much so that I spend the good part of most mornings blowing my nose. Which turns into most of the day come spring (now do you understand why I’m sounding like the Grinch out to ruin all springtime joy?).
This season however things have been a little bit different. My brother (also a hay fever sufferer – must run in the family) recommended using Otrivin Nasal Decongestant every now and then, rather than dosing up on anti-histamines every day. I was a bit skeptical at first, but I’ve used the spray variant a couple of times and it does seem to ease the stuffy, runny nose and watery eyes from which I usually suffer. Let’s just hope I don’t become immune to its powers!
Do you suffer from hay fever? What do you do to get rid of it?
