Beauty kit progression
Just like you advance in life from one stage to the next, so too should there be a progression in the purchasing of your beauty products. Now don’t get us wrong, we’d never dare to tell you to ditch your long-time loves (like me, you’ve no doubt all got your trusty favourites), but there does come a time in every girl’s life, when it’s time to up the ante of your cosmetic artillery to ensure that you put your best beauty face forward….
Step up on the SPF
We’re not even going to ask if your current day cream has a sun protection factor, because we know you’d all be aghast at the thought of not slapping on an SPF15 on a daily basis. But now it’s time to set your sights even higher by stepping up to a more senior level of skin protection. That’s right, we’re talking a daily dose of no less than SPF30+ beauties. Not only will it provide increased protection against sunburn, but it will also guard more effectively against the harmful UVA rays responsible for accelerating the signs of ageing.
Take your tinting up a notch
If you’re anything like me, you probably prefer a lightweight tinted moisturiser to a full-blown foundation. However, as the temperature rises and the days get longer (think Xmas drinks straight from work – yes, that time of year really is just around the corner), then minimal coverage might not cut it. So take your tinting up a notch and upgrade to a long-wear, yet sheer foundation. With foundation formulas as advanced as they are these days, you’ll be able to find something that goes the distance, without leaving you looking and feeling like you’ve caked on your base.
Try: Bobbi Brown Natural Finish Long Lasting Foundation SPF 15, or Bloom Liquid Foundation.
Progress to age less
Day cream? Check. Night cream? Check. Serum? Erm…(cue crickets chirping). If you’ve got your daily and nightly nourishment covered (which we hope you do!), then we reckon you’re just about ready to progress to skincare secondary school – by way of a serum! They work wonders in locking in extra moisture, which equals plumper, firmer-looking skin with less propensity to fine lines and wrinkles. Serums with specific formulations can also be used to help combat skincare issues such as pigmentation, redness, sensitivity and dullness.
Try: Beautycycle Fire Renewal Serum Vitamin C & Hyaluronate, or Eminence Organic Skincare Couperose-C Serum.
