What you shouldn't use to apply fake tan

We’ve all been there - you see a beauty ‘expert’ online sharing a cheat way to pull off a certain beauty look - and you’re tempted to try.
This is what happened to 17-year-old UK faux glow lover Imogen Silversides, who saw a video of a woman (below) applying streak-free fake tan using a paint roller - and couldn’t resist experimenting with the technique herself.
Okay so after I put on snapchat (add my snapchat amyridler) how I fake tan everyone has thought it was a great idea ...

But it all went oh so wrong...

So how the heck did this major beauty mishap go down?
Speaking to cosmopolitan.co.uk, Imogen admitted it didn’t take her long to realise “[it] was a bad idea and that it had gone wrong”.

“However there was nothing I could do as I had already fake tanned my arms and legs with the roller, so there was no going back at this point!"
Thankfully, Imogen was able to wash most of the tanning lotion off before it had time to dry, (it took “around half an hour to an hour of constant scrubbing in the shower"). But there is a lesson here for us all:
Never apply fake tan with a paint roller. Ever.
Try a mitt such as Bondi Sands Application Mitt, St. Tropez Applicator Mitt or 1000 Hour Self Tan Applicator Mitt.

So firstly why did the tan go so dark? It doesn't make sense to me as a tanner. The fake tan would apply through the sponge so it would work- it looks too dark for me to understand

Good grief I would say that is a lesson learnt the hard way, a paint roller and fake tan don't mix, lol.

The funny thing is that when my cousin enters in her body building comps she is so pale that her professional tanner rolls it on as well. Though I must says she doesn't put that much product on.

A professional tanner knows what to do - like not use too much tanner and the right shade.
