Rimmel London Sun Shimmer Self Tan Mousse put to the test
If I could take a magic pill that gave me a permanent tan, I would!
Alas, as that is yet to be invented, I decided to give the new Rimmel London Sun Shimmer Self Tan Mousse a whirl. Said to dry in just two minutes, develop in one hour and be applied weekly for up to three weeks (with no scrubbing in between!), I couldn’t wait to put it to the test. Check out the video above to see how the tan held up over three weeks, or see the progress in the photos below.
I started with clean, freshly exfoliated skin. I applied moisturiser to extra dry areas (like the elbows and knees) to prevent any tan build-up.
I used a mitt to apply the tan for smoother coverage. The tan absorbed really quickly and the instant colour looked great. The Rimmel London Sun Shimmer Self Tan Mousse is green-based, so it will always give you a nice, natural colour and won’t look orange.
When I was done with my body, I applied the tan over my face. After two minutes, the tan was completely dry to the touch and there was no colour transfer, even on a white towel!
These were the results after I’d left the tan on overnight and then showered:
After one week, the colour had faded slightly, but I definitely wasn’t as pale as I was at the beginning. I applied another coat of tan, straight over the first layer and without having to scrub my skin. AH-MAZ-ING! It applied just as well the second time and again for the third. See for yourself:
Fast forward to three weeks of wearing the tan and I was still so pleased with the colour. It never once become patchy, and it always faded nicely and reapplied like a dream.
