Katie Lolas aka the ‘meal prep queen’ shares her healthy eating tips

Katie Lolas has earned herself the title of ‘meal prep queen’ from years of uploading envy-inducing (and motivational) photos of her very organised food spreads to Instagram.

And now, with a following of over 150,000, Katie continues to share healthy and simple recipes, as well as her non-restrictive approach to diet and exercise (which is the same approach she encourages her followers), online. By aiming to inspire in creating healthy and sustainable habits, Katie hopes to help women create healthier and happier versions of themselves.

We recently sat down with Katy to find out more about her eating habits, her food philosophy and her top beauty products…

Do you stick to any diets?

No way!

What’s your philosophy when it comes to food?

Create healthy habits, not restrictions. Nothing is off-limits within moderation!

Do you have cheat days?

No, I don’t believe in cheat days. I don’t restrict myself, so I don’t feel the need to binge.

How can someone start eating healthier?

Focus on making simple, healthier choices. For example: Drink more water and replace processed sugars with natural sugars.

The idea is to gradually improve your diet instead of immediately restricting yourself and not being able to maintain the changes, which will eventually lead to you reverting back to making unhealthy choices.

What are your top meal prepping tips?

I keep it simple and ditch the rules!

I decide what to make and shop for groceries before Sunday, and stick to ideas that don’t require too many ingredients or cooking techniques.

My prep never takes longer than an hour because I avoid recipes that require over 25 steps or include five ingredients I’ve never heard of. I also don’t prep every single meal I’m going to eat all week. I just choose the meals I struggle with the most.

What are your favourite meal prep recipes?

Do you have any other diet and health tips?

Ditch the scales, 12-week crash course diets and workout programs. Ditch any and all restrictive behaviour and focus on creating habits that make you feel good and that you can sustain.

What are your three go-to beauty products?

You can find Katie on Instagram @lady.lolas or see her in person (as well as a bunch of other fitness icons) at the Melbourne Fitness Show on the 26th & 27th of October. Tickets available at fitness-show.com.au/melbourne
