Beyoncé gets real about her post-baby body

Beyoncé’s recent essay for Vogue revealed a lot about the music superstar. Among the many things she opened up about, Queen B spoke about her pregnancy and her attitude towards her post-baby body, which is being met with praise and celebration from women around the world.

"To this day my arms, shoulders, breasts, and thighs are fuller," she told Vogue. "I have a little mummy pouch, and I’m in no rush to get rid of it. I think it’s real. Whenever I’m ready to get a six-pack, I will go into beast zone and work my ass off until I have it. But right now, my little FUPA and I feel like we are meant to be."
For those who don’t know, a FUPA is an acronym that refers to ‘fat upper pubic area’, a term used to describe a layer of fat on the body’s lower abdominal area. It’s common amongst many women and thanks to Beyoncé’s positive FUPA outlook, others are embracing their FUPAs too. Actress Laverne Cox said Beyoncé’s FUPA love “made me cry”, while another Twitter user agreed, saying, “Beyoncé is accepting of her FUPA and that's what self love is about.”
After undergoing a punishing diet and exercise regime after the birth of her daughter Blue Ivy Carter in 2012, Bey swore she’d never put herself through that again. “After the birth of my first child, I believed in the things society said about how my body should look. I put pressure on myself to lose all the baby weight in three months, and scheduled a small tour to assure I would do it,” she tells. “Looking back, that was crazy. I was still breastfeeding when I performed the Revel shows in Atlantic City in 2012.”
With the birth of twins Rumi and Sir last year, the singer says her attitude towards weight loss has completely changed. An emergency C-section meant the singer had to rest after the arduous birth. “I needed time to heal, to recover. During my recovery, I gave myself self-love and self-care, and I embraced being curvier. I accepted what my body wanted to be,” she said. “After six months, I started preparing for Coachella. I became vegan temporarily, gave up coffee, alcohol, and all fruit drinks. But I was patient with myself and enjoyed my fuller curves. My kids and husband did, too.”

It's great to hear that she didn't punish herself with her second pregnancy. After giving birth, women have enough to deal with without worrying about the size or appearance of their body.

It is good that Beyonce is talking about her first pregancy and the pressure she felt to look a certain way and that the second time round she realised that it wasn't worth it.

Such a shame she felt so much pressure to bounce back... Good on her for honouring her body and her truth and doing things more relaxed and aligned with her...

Good for her, Beyonce always look's great no matter what she look's like. She has the figure to wear anything/everything & flaunt it because she knows she is gorgeous.

I'm always a bit surprised that people are amazed by women who don't lose the weight immediately. Most people don't, let's face it.

Good on her, people definitely always judge. You need to love yourself and take time to do what you need to do for yourself.

I adore this woman. I love that she doesn't just word-vomit every time life throws something at her... she walks the walk before she talks the talk.
