Secret women's solutions
There are some things that are best kept to yourself, but having said that it’s great to work in an all-female office in which talks about how to avoid visible panty lines (VPL), keep the dreaded sweaty upper lip (SUL) at bay and prevent embarrassing ‘time of the month’ leaks are part of everyday conversation – rather than something saved for the girl’s loos.
And you know how fond I am of sharing after my alarming realisation that there are many things that fellow mums fail to share (like just how much contractions hurt and how the simplest of tasks can become impossible once you have kids). So with that in mind I got down and dirty with the girls in bh HQ and asked them to reveal the beauty secrets they might not otherwise share (unless in extreme circumstances – like me threatening to post unflattering pics of them on the homepage!).
My kinder side agreed to not name and shame so these tips are anonymous…
Sweaty upper lips aside, what about a hairy lip?
A Tom Selleck-esque ‘tache isn’t a great look for a gal but what’s a dame to do? Thank goodness for Sally Hansen. With change from a $20, Sally Hansen Facial Hair Bleach quickly disguises face hair by lightening the hair so that it blends into your skin tone. It’s quick and gentle and contains soothing aloe vera to boot.
If you want to ditch, rather than just disguise unwanted facial hair try Nad’s Facial Hair Removal Strips. The wax strips are designed specifically for use on delicate areas such as the face and bikini area and regular use should slow down hair re-growth. Want convincing? Time of the month trickle
There are certain times of the month when a white skirt is a no no, but what if you are just hanging out to wear that new white dress you just spend big on? Carefree Flexia® Tampons to the rescue. The bh girls have road-tested these tampons and the feedback was a big thumbs up. Wings that were once reserved for panty liners alone have been utilized to draw fluid away from the outer edges of the tampon, making leakage less likely. Phew!
There’s nothing worse than noticing that your sporting sweat rings under your arms – especially when you have nothing to mask the smell, let alone the stains. The nice people at NIVEA have come up with NIVEA Calm & Care Deodorant, which was put to the test by bh’s Debbie and Natalie. Watch the video, if nothing else you’ll be laughing so hard you’ll forget about your sweaty pits!
Sweaty upper lip (SUL)
Summer is fast approaching, which means now’s the time to clue-up on a solution to a SUL. So here’s one we prepared earlier: blotting papers are your saviour. Go on a blotting paper spree with Bobbi Brown Blotting Papers ($40) or if it’s a steal you’re after, how about Bloom Facial Tissue, coming in at a mere $8. Team with a dusting of translucent powder (take your pick).
