Hair removal gel review

In winter my skin fades from olive to pasty white and my body hair turns from a lovely sun-bleached shade of blonde back to its natural brown. I’ll be honest, it’s not my most attractive time of year. If you’re like me, you just hide it under layers of clothes, but now that spring is here it’s time to get rid of all that body hair I’ve been quietly ignoring for the past few months – and I’ve been looking to try hair removal gel.

Now I could just go to a salon and get them to do the work for me but I’ve always been of the opinion that if you can do it yourself why not save your money and spend it on the things you really can’t do yourself; like thermage or microblading?

When it comes to hair removal I usually opt for hot wax, but recently Nad’s Natural Hair Removal Gel landed on my desk and I was intrigued to see how it would compare. I’d never waxed with a product you didn’t need to heat up, so if you’re as intrigued as me you’ll find the results below.

To start with I clean the area with the wipes supplied to remove any excess oil from the hairs and then use the spatula to dip into the gel. The gel has a similar consistency to hot wax before you heat it up and requires a bit of twisting and twirling to gather a small amount onto the spatula. I then applied it to my skin in the direction of my hair growth and used the spatula to smooth it out into a thin layer. The first application tugged at my hair a little but I found that my body temperature quickly softened the gel and it spread easily across the area.

I placed the cotton strips over the gel and smoothed it along in the direction of my hair growth, then I pulled my skin taught and pulled the strip back quickly in the opposite direction to my hair growth. All the hair came out at once, no stragglers were left behind for me to go over a second time with the gel and it was fairly painless too.

I’m really impressed with the results of Nad’s Natural Hair Removal Gel. My skin is incredibly smooth and I’m happy with how easily the hair came out in one go. Often I have to go over the area a second time when I’m using hot wax, which isn’t great for your skin and can leave it quite red. It was good to find a product that removed my body hair so effortlessly.

If you’re keen to remove your own body hair at home but the idea of applying hot wax to your skin leaves you a little nervous, then this gel is really the perfect product for you. Unlike hot wax, it doesn’t drip-off the spatula onto your clothes, skin and bathroom mat, which also means less mess!

You can use the gel to remove hair on your legs, arms, underarms and bikini line without any issues. My Sunday self-care session was a success and now I’m ready to embrace the new season without my winter coat.
