Hair removal shortcuts you need to try

I don’t know about you, but I despise dealing with summer hair removal – the minute I hear of an impending hot day or beach event, I immediately envision all the hair removal I’ll have to do. Not that I’m particularly hairy, but ugh! The effort. Can’t I just wear pants all year?

Thankfully, there are now a whole host hair removal methods that I can utilise to cut down all that time in the shower and the salon. So if, like me, you’re super lazy or just want a few hair removal shortcuts to see you through a sweltering summer, read on…

Hair removal shortcut #1 – Invest in IPL

Converting to at-home IPL has saved me so much time! I recently started using an IPL device (the Philips Lumea Prestige IPL Hair Removal Device to be specific), which allows me to treat the hair on my body with pulses of light that help to permanently reduce hair growth. I’d never used an IPL device before and I have been so impressed with the results – I’ve only done a few treatments and I’ve already noticed so much less hair in each area I’ve treated. But the really great thing about IPL is that after a few treatments, you’ll have barely any hair to left to treat – so you’ll only need touch-ups every so often, rather than every few days. Major hair removal shortcut! Trust me – put an IPL device on your Christmas wishlist.

Hair removal shortcut #2 – Bleach it

If you’re not particularly bothered by the feel of certain body hair, why not consider lightening the hair instead? It’s a quick, easy and affordable solution that you can do in between dashing to festive events. From mixing the colour to removing the dye, the whole process shouldn’t take any longer than 15 minutes and you don’t need to worry about making an appointment – which is a huge win during the back-to-back schedule of the holidays! Plus there’s no pain and no risk of ingrowns (if you are dealing with ingrown hair, try Extract It – lifechanging!). Just make sure that the dye is suitable for your skin tone (medium and darker tones might mean that the lightened hair contrasts visibly with the skin – not cute!) and that the hair you’re bleaching is fine, such as the hair on your face, stomach or arms.

Hair removal shortcut #3 – Hit the showers

Make your shower work even harder by using a depilatory cream that you can apply and wash off in the shower! These genius hair removal creams are undisturbed by the running shower water, so all you have to do is apply the formula to any unwanted hair and let it do it’s thing while you complete the rest of your shower tasks. While on the skin, the formula dissolves the hair over several minutes – simply wash off after the specified time (usually only three to six minutes), follow with a hydrating body moisturiser (the NIVEA Rich Nourishing Body Lotion is my fave) and you’ll be silky smooth. An awesome option for those last-minute invites where you need to wash your hair and shave legs, but don’t have time for both. It’s also a great alternative for those who have skin that hates shaving and waxing.
