Everything you need to know about IPL
For us girls, hair removal can be the bane of our existence! Luckily there are ways to reduce hair growth for the long-term, like IPL. However, the thought of using light pulses on your skin can be a bit scary, especially if you don’t know how it works. Well, we spoke to IPL expert Dr Tom Nujis to dispel the myths and rumours around IPL including how it works, how it differs from laser hair removal, the pre- and post-care requirements and how long it takes to see results. Plus, we find out which skin and hair types are best suited to this treatment.
Watch the video above to find out the answers to all of these frequently asked questions about IPL and to learn more about at-home options like the Philips Lumea Prestige IPL.
Have you tried IPL? Do you have any questions about the treatment?

I would love to try IPL. I’m researching at home IPL devices. I don’t know anything about them. There’s such a huge price range, and of course you go to shops and they just want to sell you ‘the latest’. I’m interested in any feedback I can get, with a view to Santa bringing me one.

This is not so bad I would give it a go although you still have to shave & forking out extra money for that when really it doesn't change the shaving process at all just tells me keep shaving it's the better way & cheaper too.

I keep tossing up whether to buy an at home ipl system, but this was pretty convincing! Might have to bite the bullet and get one!

I am just starting to use one of these at home devices (just another brand, still same tech) ....just one treatment and small bald patches appearing in one area....will see how it goes, so excited!

I think my hair is too light for this to work unfortunately.

I really, really want IPL. I'm pretty much doing a subtle (I hope!) Movember all year around :-/ It would be great not to have to shave my armpits all the time too.

I really want to get a hold of my own IPL machine, but the prices are too far fetched for me. It does seem to be worth it, seeing how much waxing and hair removal can add up.

Thank you for the information. I have been considering IPL for a while now but have heard mixed reviews about the quality of the equipment. But hey, long lasting, almost pain free hair removal sounds great to me!

I have had in-salon IPL on my bikini and underarms and it worked great (I have fair skin and dark hair). I really want to get an at home one for my legs.

A few years ago I had a couple of in salon IPL treatments on my bikini line and they worked great, the hairs still haven't grown back. I'm not sure this IPL would be suitable now as my underarm and leg hair is very fine and light ie you can really only see my leg hair in the sunshine. I think phaser-epl would better suit me.

Interesting, I have been thinking of doing IPL for a little while, it seems so much more convenient than shaving.
