The exact workout that helps Beyoncé stay so freaking fit

Contrary to what you may have read in that gossip mag you devoured at the hairdresser last week, celebs are nothing like the rest of us. We don’t live in gated communities, own superyachts or have nutritionists and dietitians on speed dial – nor do we have a personal trainer available at our beck and call.

Still, no amount of money – or fame – can buy Beyonce’s body. It’s the result of dedication, hard work and a lot of time on the treadmill.

Here, we’ve rounded up everything the mum-of-three does to stay in such great shape.

She never misses leg day.

In an interview with Elle, Bey’s PT Marco Borges shared the four simple exercises he swears by for sculpting her flawlessly toned thighs: 1. Jumping lunges. 2. Plie jumps 3. Pelvic lifts and 4. Reverse–squat kicks. (Repeat each move 10 times and do three sets in total.)

“You may be sore for a few days after the first few times you try this,” Borges said. “Our legs are one of the muscle groups that are constantly being used even when we don’t think we’re exercising. If you want to see rapid change, you must be willing to step out of your comfort zone because these muscles are conditioned to being constantly worked.”

She loves moving to music.

“For me, dancing is what keeps me active,” she previously shared with Shape. Not only is it a fun way to workup a sweat, it also keeps her motivated. “I’ll put on a song that I really like and do [biceps curls with] 2.5kg weights [for] the whole song and just try to burn out,” she told Self.

She focuses on building strength.

In a video she posted to Instagram, Beyonce broke down one of her go-to core workouts step-by-step. She does standing side crunches, full body sit-ups incorporating a medicine ball, alternating dumbbell punches, forward lunges, and lateral bench hops. Intense stuff.

She’s crazy on cardio.

To prepare for her Formation World Tour, Queen B did tons of interval training, battle rope training and boxing. “Sprints are ideal for building stamina and explosiveness, which B needs to move across the stage,” Borges toldGlamourat the time, adding that gets her to alternate between one-minute of running with two minutes of speed-walking for 30 minutes. “You run out of gas fast; by pushing through [that fatigue], you develop a ton of endurance.”

She always sneaks in a stretch.

Beyonce might be a busy woman, but she always ensures she properly cools down. This improves flexibility, aids recovery, strengthens  the muscles and reduces the risk of injury – kinda important when you’re a major star.  “I stretch B at the end of every workout,” Borges told Glamour.

  1. I love short interval workouts. I’ve started walking and run more during lockdown. I’ve been eating a lot more too so I need balance it with a workout. I love pumping the music load at home and just dancing my way around the hose. Makes house cleaning more fun.

  2. I tend to walk a lot. Sometimes I’ll do weights and/or resistance sorts of exercises, but for the most part walking is my main exercise. I do love to dance too, but haven’t taken classes in years.
