Imagine if you had to use newspaper at 'that' time of the month
Well that is the reality for millions of girl in developing countries, like Uganda.
Many of these girls miss up to 20 per cent of the school year because they don't have access to adequate feminine hygiene products and are using items such as newspaper during that time of the month. Understandably, they don't feel comfortable heading off to school during that time of the month when they're not equipped with the right hygiene products - and their education suffers as a result.
Feminine hygiene brand Moxie have made a pledge to help this cause - and they need your help, too.
For every pack of Moxie Slenders Liners, Slenders Pads or Sleepovers Pads sold through our Australian retail partners during the promotion*, they will send the equivalent amount of locally masde re-usable pads to young Ugandan girls. With the help of their partner AFRIpads, Moxie will provide free Deluxe Menstrual kits to Ugandan school girls - which last up to one year. In addition, Moxie and AFRIpads will also provide menstruation training and employ local women to hand-make the kits, which in turn allows them to generate an income and to help them send their own kids to school.
So what are you waiting for? Help your sisters overseas and get your hands on some Moxie personal hygiene products!
*Promotion ends 31/12/2013. See Moxie.com.au for the full details of this initiative.
