Eating for healthier eyes

A set of bright, sparkly peepers can really stop you in your tracks. We all remember that dark, brooding guy with the magnetically dark eyes that passed us on the street and we’ve all had pangs of jealousy when meeting a woman with enormous crystal blue peepers.
Eyes can entrance, intrigue and delight, so why not get yours sparkling bright? (Ooh! We love an unexpected rhyme!)
Eating healthy for eye health
Eye health starts with your diet. Try adding these superfoods to your dinner plate for beautiful, bright eyes:
Carrots
No surprises here. They give the Easter bunny sparkling brights and they can do the same for us too! The secret is in their high levels of eye health boosting vitamin A.
Eggs
A power-packed source of eye nutrients such as vitamin D and vitamin B12, eggs are the fast-track to healthier more sparkly eyes.
Avocadoes
Containing lutein, an important tool in preventing macular degeneration, avocadoes are a top food for maintaining your vision.
Tomatoes
Tomatoes pack a double-whammy, containing two super-powerful eye nutrients: vitamin C and lycopene.
Garlic
Garlic is rich in eye nutrients including selenium, which just gives us another reason to chow down on the garlic bread! (Not that we needed it…)
Spinach
Popeye was onto something big when he started loading up on the green stuff. Spinach is a power-packed superfood for overall health and wellbeing and it also contains several eye health vitamins, including lutein and zeaxathin – so do as Popeye would do and get green today!

Yum, all of the foods I love. Love the picture too, and yes to berries (all) :) Agree with Yohanna. That might be why I was able to throw away my glasses 7 years ago, and no eye issues.

Eggs: deterioration of blood vessels which leads to weakening of the whole system (circulation) in general. Eyes are not grateful :P and here is why

Eat orange coloured and red and purple fruit. You get the same and more benefits! Cantaloupe, goji berries (very very potent stuff for the eyes), blaccurants (very potent!) any berries, purple cabbage...

Thanks for the info. I remember hearing since I was a child that eating carrots can help you see in the dark. Old wives tale or based on fact?

Great article, it makes sense that the more healthy foods you put into your body the clearer your eyes and skin will look.
