Hooray! Celebs are finally being honest
God bless Instagram. And not just because it gives us all the #fitspo, food porn and LOLz we need to get through a work day. These days, it’s becoming the go-to platform for celebs to share their ‘real life’ selves with us.
Sure, there are plenty of red carpet posts, on-set and behind-the-scenes selfies and shameless self-promotion, but they’re also giving us insights into their lives – and in open and refreshingly honest ways. Like the time Thandi Newton took a selfie while bleaching her moustache or when Kaley Cuoco poked fun at how much work goes into looking flawless.
This week, the spotlight is on Lena Dunham and Chrissy Teigen.
The Girls star posted this pic on her Insta account:
She captioned it with this:
Promised myself I would not let exercise be the first thing to go by the wayside when I got busy with Girls Season 5 and here is why: it has helped with my anxiety in ways I never dreamed possible. To those struggling with anxiety, OCD, depression: I know it's mad annoying when people tell you to exercise, and it took me about 16 medicated years to listen. I'm glad I did. It ain't about the ass, it's about the brain. Thank you @tracyandersonmethod for showing me the light (and @bandierfit is where I bought my Florida mom inspired workout look.) #notsponsored #stillmedicated
Bravo, Lena, for not only letting the world know you’re human and have your own issues to deal with day-to-day, but also for inspiring those who might be suffering from anxiety and looking for help.
People can say what they want about Lena for baring her body on the show and for the sometimes-controversial choices she makes and things she says, but there’s no doubt this kind of message needs to be applauded and encouraged.
And in the next corner we have Mrs. John Legend, Chrissy Teigen:
Bruises from bumping kitchen drawer handles for a week. Stretchies say hi!
Well, would you look at that – celebs have bruises and stretch marks, too! We know those designer dresses (and artfully Photoshopped pics) hide a lot of ‘flaws’, but HALLELUJAH for Chrissy for having the guts to share it with the world. Also, cute dog.
Yes to more honesty, we say!
What do you think of Lena and Chrissy’s posts? Do you like it when celebs are honest about their bodies and minds?
