Essie Pastels-Problematic Formula?

I am having some issues with a few essie polishes, grrrr
Most essie polsihes I own are really great, two coats max and no streaking and last all week with only very minor chipping/tip wear.

however I purchased the following shades recently from oz sales and they suck!
the shades I got are ;
– haute as hello
– absolutely shore

I was wondering if all essie pastels are bad because these two ive tried are terrible. -Completly streaky 3 coats and chipped quite a bit within 2-3 days. its really dissapointing as these are both beautiful colours too. 🙁

Does anyone have any good essie pastel experiences?

Yes absolutely! I have Turquoise & Caicos and it was my first Essie nail polish. What I didn’t realise was that it was one of the streakiest nail polishes from Essie. After three coats I couldn’t get get an even coating!

Thanks for the tips, Essie polishes are usually really great, I had cocktail bling too and that was pretty decent wear, lasting over a week without chipping.

Seems like best to research the individual shade to see others reviews first!

Might try a FOA pastel then, I’d the formula is good for an inexpensive brand than that will be amazing!

Any other brands that do good pastels?

I think there are certain ones that can be dodgy. I have had great experiences with Essie Mint Candy Apple and Cocktail Bling. In fact, I will put my neck on the line to say that Essie Mint Candy Apple is the longest lasting nail polish formula ever. I had a good 2-3 WEEKS of wear time with no chipping. I used a base and top coat to prolong the longevity of my manicure but 2-3 weeks of wear time was just amazing in my opinion. I wouldn’t have taken it off but for the nail growth which was showing.

Nevertheless, I had the worst experience with Essie Lion Around. The manicure with Lion Around barely lasted a day! Worst nail polish formula ever. Even Ulta3 ones will last longer.

So overall, I think it depends on the individual nail polish colour rather than the overall nail polish formula. I normally will check online reviews before I buy the nail polish. Typically, I wouldn’t buy a nail polish (even if the colour is really pretty) if it is going to apply really badly. Let’s just say that Lion Around wasn’t one of those times when I did my research and I got burnt by my experience instead. :S

I have both of these (definitely genuine products) and yep, they both suck formula-wise! However I have Lady Like (not really a pastel but a pale pinky taupe creme) and it is amazing, flawless! Pastels are always tricky, and I don’t have many for that reason.

I don’t even know if you can get fake Essie lol but it was just a thought =)

I have Nice is Nice and haven’t had too much trouble with it. It is a bit streaky but 2 or 3 coats will cover it and even out nicely. I have been wanting more Essie pastels, but maybe I should look at something else if they haven’t worked well for you.

The Face of Australia pastels are a great formula, have you tried them?

Also, I just had a thought.. If you bought them off Ozsale maybe they are fakes?? I have bought Essie of Ozsale and never thought of that, but maybe if they seem a bit dodgy compared to your other Essie polishes???

Just looked at mademoiselle, very pretty colour. I know I love pale/pastel colours too but finding a good one is hard work! Nail polish is so annoying in that you can’t “try before you buy”.

Only with mademoiselle, my others have looked a bit streaky and haven’t lasted all that long, same as your problems. I love pale nails but they seem to be more work?
